STI side splitters install question....
Has anyone here installed these on their car. I have a 05 wrx and want to install the sti side splitters that way i can install the V-limited style front lip.....if anyone know of someone that will do it or help me with it please let me know......

you will have to hack your front bumper up pretty good to do it right. sti's have a bunch of rectangle holes behind those splitters to attach them to and some metal brackets.

I cut those clips off and used industrial double sided tape to attach it to the sidebumper. Use the provided clips to attach the rear and bottom.

+1 on double sided tape

Have any of you guys that cut off the three clips off that go in the rectangle holes put a lip on? My guess is that the remaining mounting points plus double sided tape isn't going to be enough to keep the v-ltd from ripping everything off from highway speeds or if this guy decides to do a track day. IMHO I would go the extra step, take my time and cut the holes and make sure I used ALL of the mounting points. Especially if I was shelling out all the $$$ to by the splitters and the lip. Also, who has ever taken their STi splitters off after installing them? ( I know I wouldn't just because I like the look of the splitters on the car ) And if you do take them off to install a different type of lip or lower-front body kit, most of them cover up the holes anyways. The only way I'd do the install as suggested (cutting off the tabs that go through the bumper) is if I was installing ONLY the side splitters and had no plans for a front lip.
No offense toward any other suggestions and I would be interested to see if anyone has actually used the stick-tape method with the splitters and then added a lip. Just my .02 cents toward avoiding having to buy everything again. I know they aren't cheap. |

He even ripped the lip off on a driveway and the splitters were still there. So it can be done and will hold... :nerd: My window visors are held by double sided tape : banana : |
