Mostly stock or modded?
Which sells better and faster. I always see modded subies on craigslist, cars.com, autotrader, etc. but do they really sell? Are modded ones going to sell just as fast? I am almost positive that a modded subie will sell for about the same as stock unless it is very, VERY well done up. What your guys opinions?

Stock sells better
|
Seems like people can not get quite what they want for their cars with upgrades and most of the time we see partout threads as people can usually make more money selling the car stock and selling the parts separate. I'll part mine someday if I ever sell it.

stock sells better! not to many people modd cars and not drive them. when i bought my subi i wanted something stock, most drive modded cars hard even if its now and then. I also seen mods sell for the same price as stock and who wants someones custom car when we all have different taste in whats hot

I bought 02 wrx used from a dealership. Carfax came back clean but after an inspection I found but it had been modded then put back to stock. So far had to replace a driveshaft, and wheel bearing, and next suspension. Havn't been able to spend money on mods because I keep having to fix things :(

I dont think it matters unless its seriously modded.
Vehicles should go for about the same modded or not bc the buyer will be comparing it to a fixed KBB/Carfax price. |

Carfax wont tell you that kind of stuff. Car fax wont even tell you if a car has been in an accident or not. It takes a trained eye to spot things like this. If you want to know if a car had been moded or not first is to look a the dp nuts and bolts and see if there are any wrench marks on them or not. The only thing carfax will tell you about is the title. How many owners and times its changed owers. where it was originaly purchased. If it was a salvaged title or not. Those are the important things about it. If its got a salvaged title you will not be able to get insurance on it. Once again as for accidents or moded, carfax wont tell you either one. |
i will never get back as much money as i put into my car.. especially after the wide body and paint work. stock is always a better buy but alot of times, the seller doesnt tell the buyer that it was previously modded and leaves it to the buyer to do research on the car... just like the guy who bought a 08 sti at capitol subaru and found out it was beat to hell.

Don't tell me you're selling TO!
|
When i bought mine i made sure it was bone stock! That was just me though, my car before my suby was modded when i bought it. That was a no no....lesson learned lol
|
thanks for the input guys!

I think rims and suspension mods would increase the value a little more for the person looking for that type of thing. Engine mods are a no no.

this guys got a lot of stock sti parts:
