McLaren
a friend and i were talking about this, and the question of when will the mclaren be bested came about. its easy to say "it will never be beaten", but never is a long time.
i was just thinking, why would anyone want to beat it for 1 million? thats a ton of change to fool around with. look at what you can get in a zonda or lambo that sells for what, a little more than a 1/4 of the mclaren.
thoughts anyone?

the mclaren is a ridiculous car. 0-60 in 3.2s!! check out this video & you'll see why someone may spend that much.

o believe me, i know the mclaren is the most incredible street car that you can purchase today and i have watched that top gear so many times if it were on tape i would have worn it out by now.
what i am saying, is that, are many exotic car designers going to touch a project that will have a cost of $1 million? thats a ton of money. the f1 is probably worth every penny, but a cool mill will buy a ton of r&d worth of supercar. the enzo is still "only" around $800k, thats $200k left over, still a lot to play with. the xj220 was only around $500k when it came out, the $800k most go for now is just a rarity "tax"
even the street legal benz racecar, only 5 made i think, tops out at 40mph less than the mclaren.
is the mclaren going to stay on top because no one else wants to even try to sell a car for that much?

Do you ever think how fast the McLaren would be if Lingenfelter performed similar mods on the BMW V12 engine?
The McLaren can carry 3 people in comfort while the Vette carries.....2 people max. Add to this that the McLaren carries a bigger engine, has similar cargo capacity as the Corvette, and is a smaller car (physically) than the Vette, and you begin to see that the McLaren is a marvel of packaging and performance effieciency
Oh..and the McLaren was able to hit 60 in 3.2 seconds using stock oem tyres.... The Lingenfleter was running on special sticky drag slicks for the 2 second time.....

How could everyone forget the Bugatti Veryon quad turbo 1001 hp? Seven speed transmission, 252 miles per hour top speed, and 0-60 in 3.0 flat. All wheel Drive, oh yeah, and it only costs $300,000, a lot less then the Mclaren. It has already been beaten.
If you look in this month's edition of "Car" magazine, there is an interview in there with Gordon Murray..... When asked about his thoughts on the Veyron, let's just say that he was not too enthused with the existence of the car.....in fact, he seemed downright pissed off that the car would top out faster than the McLaren.
He did have a few things to say though about the Zonda. He did not seem to like the styling of the car though, although he did respect the way in which the car 'advances the game' so to speak...
in fact, he is not a fan of ANY supercar that has forced induction or awd......
