honda's SH-AWD system
the system honda is working looks pretty crazy; here is a streaming vid of it in action with some pretty in depth info on it.

just because it is technologically advance doesn't automatically mean it does the job a lot better or is more reliable
very nice system, the problem with the SH, is that if the vehicle is producing 2 much power, the ECU shuts off.. this was the problem with the 5th generation preludes which were boosting, the SH ATTS would malfunction so the tranny would function without the torque shifting ability to reduce shocking the gears, and induce more wheels spin, so if you dragged your prelude which had heavy modification, you would have 80 lbs of extra dead weight attached to your car ( the ATTS )
I used to own a 98 prelude base model, ( non SH ) and have driven both SH and Base, and to tell u the truth, its hard to notice the SH shifting torque because it isn't as "instant" as you think.. the ECU has to calc the G's then shift torque which takes a while, u can feel it kick in though... its like a computerized version of LSD... good stuff, but not efficient with high powered vehicles

forgive me for my lack of enthusiasm.. but *yawn*-
i admire the CG animation. very impressive. good idea... but i wanna see the specs and weight. and i'd like to see performance in action.(WRC would be awesome! but i don't think its been hondas thing
not to knock their technology... i'm not sure why honda never continued
with their awd technology...anyone know?
subaru has (IMO) the best design. and the only reason is because of the overall design of the boxer engine. with the STi you have a complete housing of front differential(LSD) DCCD and transmission all in one. mate that with the rear differential(LSD also) and analyze the sensors all included with the DCCD
you have a system that is superior in most applications.
mitsubishi's design with the MR is gonna be impressive on tarmac...i am still trying to learn more about their awd systems, but i know that it is more on the high tech side.

Honda has money...lots of it....(For instance, them payin a company to make a lengthy video about something an average person wouldnt understand)and they want to keep thier market (Highschool Freshman's) away from WRX/STi/Evo.... Lets see how well it works out for them. From what I noticed... a couple of my friends had thier hearts set on the fugly Si hatchback('04) until they learned of the 300Hp/300lb.ft. and a little test drive...It was all down hill from there....
