does anyone know where i can get off road parts for a 1983 gl 4 speed 4x4 station wagon and can recommend parts to me and what they are worth i have the skils to put it on i just cant find the parts.

 

I can't tell you where to get them, but I never paied more than $500 for a whole car (realy rusty)
I have heard of BRAT's in nice shape for $2000+
The gear boxes are tough & engines tougher...
The week spot is the front strut tops (rubber will blow through the steel cap) & the rear trailing arms (if realy rusty they will bend)
Do some searches on google for subaru forums there are more specific sites for some of the old suby's...

 

Brain fart...
The suspention is adjustable. The rear is a torsion bar with an adjusting bolt & front struts have funny little adjusting nuts directly under the coil springs...

Other than that I haven't bothered to lift or try to gain more ground clearence...

Of all the things I have bent & trashed the exhaust is vunrible under the wrong conditions.

 

I'm looking at picking up an '86 GL Hatch 4x4 (sub $800), but parts are impossible to find. There's a few places where you can find factory parts, but as far as aftermarket, I dunno. Old subies seem to be a little more popular in Canada, maybe you can find something up there.

 

Yea, I didn't think of ISR. I used to see a lifted BRAT in their parking lot before they moved in with Renick. They're great people to work with anyway.
