It's unfortunate I hate the broncos so much because they have a great coach and I really like cutler and selvin young.

Sorry about the raiders, though I am a niner fan. Al just backed off of firing Kiffin which i think was a good decision for the team. If anybody goes, it should be your defensive coordinator.

Actually speaking about bronco fans.. The snowballs were there before the Oakland batteries. Back in the day when Ray Wersching was our PK for the niners, he was about to win/tie the game with a 20-30 yard field goal one night on MNF. This range was automatic for the guy. Anything past 40 yards was iffy. They set up for the kick and lo and behold a snowball come flying from nowhere and the kick was muffed. Broncos win.....

true that. I used to be a lions fan until they ****ed over the greatest running back of all time. Barry Sanders.

They should have let him come out of retirement. Traded him out of the division to a contender and let him do his thing. He WAS that team for 10 ****ing years. Least they could do was let him have his chance to win.

Yeah, I was sad to see him go. I miss characters like that.

If he would have played another 3 or 5 years which he was perfectly capable of doing at a high level he would have put the rushing records so far out of that piece of crap emmitt smith's hands. Emmit had the biggest O line in the NFL his entire career. Sanders... paper would have been more effective.

If you're saying that the Broncos are dirty and the Raiders are not...that must be some good kool-aid.

Yes the Broncos' o-line uses the chop-block as one of their blocking techniques. Almost every team does. All those penalties on the Raiders are for a reason, though. What about Burgess taking out Favre last year?

also...
Most Seasons Leading League, Most Penalties
16 Chi. Bears, 1941-44, 1946-49, 1951, 1959-1961, 1963, 1965, 1968, 1976
15 Oakland/L.A. Raiders, 1963, 1966, 1968-69, 1975, 1982, 1984, 1991, 1993-96, 2003-05
7 L.A./St. Louis Rams, 1950, 1952, 1962, 1969, 1978, 1980, 1997

Yes penalties also include things like false starts, but you can't be a consistent league leader in penalties without playing dirty.

every team in the league is aware of the broncos bending the rules.

every one knows the raiders play hard and dirty at times. not denying that... don't recall ever saying that they didn't play dirty. Just saying don't point a holy finger and forget about what your team is pulling. There's a reason I could get behind that line and run for 1000 yards.

What about fat boy tony saragussa taking a flop on rich gannon and no one giving a crap... and pretty much starting the downward spiral that the raiders are in now.

and I honestly believe that the officials pay a little closer attention to the raiders because its implied to do so.

You could call a penalty on damn near every play of any game. And you can NOT call penaltys on key plays.

Barry didn't want to play football anymore. It's not like he asked the Lions to trade him or something and he would have come out of retirement. He didn't want to play anymore. That said the Lions do suck big time. It's sad really because this area would go nuts for a playoff appearance once in a while, but they can't even make that happen. Bleh...

you're the same age as I am. You should be able to remember him trying to come out of retirement. He offered detroit $10 million dollars to release or trade him and they refused. Said if he came back he HAD to play for them.

He decided to stay retired because he wanted to win and didn't feel like risking injury for a ****ty team that obviously didn't care about him enough to help him in any way shape or form on the field or let him go.

The ****ed him. Period.

I guarantee you that the topic or trade/release came up BEFORE he retired. He was our age for god's sake and never had a major injury. They could have gotten a number one pick and more for him and been just fine. Maybe gotten a QB they truly needed but instead they deprived fans of the greatest runner in nfl history of 3 or more years of 1700 yards a year behind a decent line. Maybe more.

It's not like he pulled a tiki barber and bounced.

I don't know where you get that from but he never offered the Lions anything to come out of retirement. They lions sued him for part of his bonus back and an arbitrator ruled that he had to pay 5.5 million of the 11 million bonus that he signed for 2 years into a 6 year deal. His father and his agent speculated that if he paid back the bonus they could release him but you never heard that from Barry himself.

Barry debunked that "retire-so-they-will-trade-or-release-me" theory himself in a number of articles and in his own autobiography.

This was an interview 10 days ago....

Barry never wanted to come back. It was all speculation by people around him who, like us fans, just didn't want to accept the fact that he didn't want to play anymore.

I hate defending the Lions because as a football team they suck. It is terrible being a fan because every pre-season comes and you think to yourself that this year could be different. The hype machine from the organization kicks into high gear and you start to drink the kool-aid but it all comes crashing down at some point during the season and you see that they are still the same old lions.

interesting... thanks for correction. I just remember all the stuff surround him coming back and the money and law suits.

What a shame. I just don't understand how people can just say... I don't want to do that anymore. You're playing a game for millions of dollars a year. You can only do that until you're about say 35. That leaves you 40 years to do other ****. Just can't figure it out.

Like what's his face from the titans or ricky williams. Depressed playing football... wtf?

I guess my child hood fan memories just remembered the millions coming up surround barry's retirement. I could have swore he offered up his bonus so he could come back. Serves me right for being a smart ***...haaa.
