okay, lame jokes aside.......i just saw on the news that there's some sort of catalytic converter theft epidemic going on down in South Bay. thieves are apparently targeting Toyota Tacoma, Tundra, & other import pick-up trucks, but a bunch of other random makes & models of vehicles have been victimized as well.
supposedly the guys are selling the cat guts to scrap metal recyclers (some cats contain platinum laced cores/filters) and are getting about $30-50 for each one.
it seems like a lot of trouble & work to me for just a few bucks, but i guess times are pretty hard for some people nowadays. this is almost as weird as those thefts of city trash bins that went down in the East Bay a couple months ago. thieves were after the scrap metal then too.
well, if you're in the South Bay, better hope no one lays their grubby lil paws on your cats!

repost, huh? sorry, i must've missed the first bulletin.
i still can't believe people are doing this tho. they're not just going after the bolt on ones either. a bunch have been hacked off w/handheld skil saws in broad daylight in shopping mall parking lots, in front of residences, etc. that's pretty bold.
