Hi,

I live up in WA but I recently had my car tuned by Shiv in Union City. During the tuning my tranny blew up and second gear is completely obliterated. I'm not sure what exactly is broken but I'm just going to replace the entire transmission just to be sure.

So I am in desperate need of a 02+ WRX tranny with the 3.9 final drive. I would like to get this taken care of as soon as possible because the shop is charging me per day for storage. The shop said they would pick up the tranny but I would like to have it be as local to Union City as possible.

Get one of the 05 RS trannies that Gruppe-s has. Better gearing, same strength and has 3.9 final. They're like $700. Only thing is its a push type not pull.

 

Gruppe-S has a ton of other trannys too, all new and VERY cheap... Give them a call.

 

Tranny blew during tune? That sucks.


Go to gruppe-s, they usually locate quite a few sets as i see them advertise it on a normal basis.

Yeah, I went on the after tune drive with Shiv and during a 2nd gear pull, the gear just exploded and the clutch lost all pressure. It's currently sitting at Full Function while I had to drive a rental car back to Olympia WA. Not a very fun weekend for me.

Edit: I also want to thank all the guys at Full Function and Shiv for helping me out with my car. I'll get it back on the road soon.

 

I have a new RA gearset kicking around, not the cheapest option but it will bolt right in.

man!!! hope shiv gives you a break and waives any "storage fees" and maybe even throws in the tune for free, cause i couldnt imagine how i would have reacted to seeing someone eles obliviate my tranny

Good luck with the tranny, and yeah, Gruppe-S has a whole bunch that I'm sure will suit your needs and are very local to UC.

+2 for RA gears, although as Mike said, not the cheapest, but you shouldn't have a problem shredding the teeth again!

 

There was a tranny on craigslist brand new in crate for 1k.. let me see if i can dig it up
