what do you guys think about GT35R for road racing?

Do you guys think GT35R is good or bad for road racing?
Since it does spool slower, would it be pratical?

I am trying to build a semi-road racing car.
The two turbo upgrade choices are the Perrin GT35R kit or the Deadbold SZ49.
After the turbokit, i will probably build the engine a bit and bump the rev limit to 8000rpm.

Do you guys think the GT35R can deliver smooth power and be better for the track?

oops, i was signed in my friend's account.

Anyways, I thought 400-450whp on 91 octane would be good for a track car.
The SZ49 just wouldn't deliver that kind of performance, that's why i started looking into the GT35R.

Give me some opinion guys! Thanks!

Well, first, what kind of car do you have?

Second, you should probably post this in the tech forums as this is a technical-related question.

Third, what sort of road racing?

If you're talking about road racing as in doing track days, then this answer applies:

You will need to get better brakes, suspension components, and safety hardware to match. Have you done track days yet with the stock turbo? If not... well you should probably find out what that feels like before you go big power. It's very stressful on a car to just be on track stock... Big power is fun but inherently less reliable, and you would probably need to upgrade your cooling systems so that your car doesn't overheat.

If you want to know why you might remain stock turbo ask blue blurr how his VF34 is working out for track days on his WRX. IIRC, his brakes melt halfway into the session. Thats no fun... IMO, it's better to work on the driver than the car.

The GT35R would probably be a crutch and prevent you from learning as quickly as you would on a stock turbo because it's harder (scary?) to drive your car at the limit when you have 400whp. Sure, you'd be passing everyone, so that would be cool... but I still wouldn't do it...

Yeah, id work on the rest of the car first and get tons of seat time, then worry about the engine (perhaps a TBE, tune, and a meth kit on the stock turbo to start)

right now i have a stage 2 protuned 05 sti.
I have done some track times at buttonwillow raceway.
I am still working on my suspension and i won't be getting the turbo kit after i have completed the suspension. So by the time i am ready for turbo, i will be familiar with the suspension and have plenty of track times.

Thinking about a cosworth engine with the Gt35r right now. Although it will still be a long time until i start on the big power mods, i just wanted some opinion so i can kind of have a sense on where my car should be headed.
