well crap

I get out from the bookstore and start to drive home and I notice BAD sounds coming from the back of the car, I drove about a mile to get home and find that I have a flat on the right rear- I loaned my spare to Greg Montgomery and I left my floor jack in Laughlin and it is raining like piss!

Happy f-ing new year my a$$.....

is the tire in good enough condition to get it plugged at some shop?

psoper 01-02-2006 01:14 PM

I just got it off and I'm afraid not, the inside sidewall has a few soft spots on it, so it looks like another benjamin I won't have to spend on booze or weed.

Doh! Not a good way to start off the new year. I've been staying inside the last couple of days. Of course, it's raining like piss up here and I'd rather not risk getting my car stuck. I've seen a few on Sat just walking around.

psoper 01-02-2006 02:13 PM

I'm seeing the bright side in that I didn't f-up the rim, and lots of things could be worse, Greg came by with my full sized spare, now I just have to see if I can get any kind of deal on account of the road hazard warranty and stuff tomorrow when Les Schwab's open.

pleiad7 01-02-2006 03:04 PM

Wow, that sucks! Any ideas what might have caused it? We're getting pretty fed up with Les Schwab and their craptacular service... Our SVX has been back at their shop at least a dozen times between chronic balancing issues and a slow leak in one tire that they seem unable to find/fix.

serious problem detected...

psoper 01-03-2006 04:32 PM

what, maybe the SVX wheel casting is leaking?

In my case Schwab did me a 50% pro-rated replacement, and Roger Krause is shaving the new one to half its tread depth (to match the other 3) and re-balancing for less than 40 bucks, so I think I got off easy....

CLsmooth71 01-03-2006 05:01 PM

sorry for your misfortune. at least you didn't spin out and have fender bender tho.

here's something to cheer u up......

I have to admit the second one cheered me up a bit more than Kobe did!

STi-owns-evo 01-03-2006 05:27 PM

Just to tell you guys, if you have a mileage warranty on the tires, you can get all 4 prorated, that way you won't have to shave any tires or do any of that. Instead just get the % off all 4. Atleast the store you got the tires from could shave instead of rip you off on 4 brand new with only 1 prorate.

Also, best way to find a tire that's leaking, test it under water at 10PSI, 20 PSI, and 30 PSI. Sometimes if the PSI is too high in the tire, it can actually semi-seal the tire if there's no weight on it and basically seal the hole until there's the car's weight back on it. That's why it's good to test at low and high pressures.

psoper 01-03-2006 06:14 PM

Well mine was a "road hazard" warranty and the gal that checked me in said that is didn't cover it if you drove on it flat, I did put about a mile on it before I realized what was going on, so I wasn't going to push it.

And that still would have been over $250, so like i said, I was happy with the outcome.
