I was interested in buying a TT myself but after some research... I was told that our cars do not need one since it has some sort of cooling system already. Is this true? I remember some website that said that it is not necessary with these turbos, comparing to the older ones.

That would be due to older turbo's being oil cooled and needing time to cool (newer units are oil and water cooled). Newer units are better but for the sake of $100 or so and peice of mind a turbo timer is hardly overkill.
