TrackSpec Autosports - SF Bay Area Shop Review
Trackspec Autosports | Welcome
Just thought I'd share my experience with TrackSpec Autosports in Fremont. I've been a customer at a fair share of Bay Area tuner shops over the past 10 or so years (Gruppe-S, GB Motorsports (RIP), LIC, GST, Speed Element, etc). As i've moved more into the BMW world, I've been a pretty regular customer at Performance Technic in Dublin but since moving back down to the East Bay, I needed to find somewhere closer to take care of all of my cars (04 WRX, E90 335, E46 M3, IO3 i3.)
I think I've found my new go-to shop, and it's right here in Fremont. I guess there's something comforting about walking into a shop and seeing a bunch of Bentleys, Lotuses, and other high end cars on lifts being worked on. Also helps that the shop is huge, spotless, and full of state-of-the-art equipment. Lobby and waiting room is also massive and outfitted with flat-screen, comfy couches, wifi, roku, coffee, etc.
Work done included N54 valve cover gasket, drive belt/tensioner/pulleys, coilover install with proper 4-wheel alignment and corner balance, auto trans service (pan replacement, mech sleeve, flush, etc.) and some other misc things. Everything was completed meticulously (PROPERLY based on BMW guidelines) and they caught a few things that I may have missed otherwise. Pricing was very competitive and work was done in a timely fashion. Maybe most importantly to me - all of the guys are very professional and have the same enthusiast mindset the rest of us do. Jon (owner and head mechanic) was previously a lead mechanic at Dietsch Werks and the rest of his staff have extensive JDM/Euro experience as well. I've known a few of the guys here a very long time and it serves the enthusiast community well when we have these kinds of guys around. They really treat your car as if it was their own.
Highly recommended and I plan on going here exclusively from here on out

yep, I've known Jon since we were kids and he's always been an awesome guy. I've also gotten to know the rest of his staff pretty well and I can honestly say there's no one I would trust more with any of my cars. Also just fun to hang out and chat with them as they are enthusiasts just like we are.

Oh man, that shop will give LIC a run for its money in cleanness levels! Thanks for sharing!
One question though (and I hope this does not come off the wrong way)...how do they compare in labor prices to the other shops you mentioned? I fully recognize you get what you pay for regarding skill and knowledge (I do not cut corners there)...but at the same time, I also don't want to pay Ferrari/Bentley customer pricing for Subaru/Mitsubishi maintenance issues
Thanks again for sharing your impressions!
