Tornado does it work?

Hey guys just wanted to know what your thoughts on the Tornado system will aways see on Tv. Does it really work? Does anybody have it in there car? And if it does work how much of a notice did you you feel/see in horsepower and in gas milage? Thanks

Kevin M 12-26-2002 12:06 AM

Technically yes, but it would take years to recoup the money you spent on it in gas savings. Not worth it. Just get a real intake like Cobb or ganzflow. The rest fall closer to the Tornado than to the good stuff.

Impala SS AutoX 12-26-2002 07:37 AM

Not only "no", but "HELL NO" :)

I have an interesting "perspective" on that, as I own the "test car" in that infomercial....an Impala SS.

Their "before" HP numbers are wrong.....and LOW! Coincidentally (yeah right  ) they are low by the same amount as the "gains" they are claiming. Geez, let me hide my shock at THAT one :)

Look at it as an overpriced DOORSTOP, and nothing more. It will give you ZERO HP gains and ZERO gas mileage gains.

I know somebody who had one on their WRX, they shall remain nameless. But this person saw worse gas mileage and slower car. Something like that. It's crap, don't waste your money.

your joking right? Please tell me your joking

AntiochCali 12-26-2002 08:11 AM

of course it WORKS!

Oh man what are you guys talking about?

It works to make money for it's manufacturer and it makes the ricer that buys it think his car is faster - what else do you want?

PimpWagon 12-26-2002 08:40 AM

How the hell is that thing supposed to work on our cars, when the air still has to go thru the turbo and then intercooler anyways?! It's a waste of money.

ryball 12-26-2002 08:48 AM

I got one for my lawn mower, and it rocks!

Why would you want your lawnmower to "rock"?

Wow should try and get that sucker on a dyno and see what measures!

The creator of the Tornado is Korean. The 'nameless one' just wants to support his Korean brethren. Haha!

PimpWagon 12-26-2002 10:30 AM

Yeah, and we all know how solid Korean engineering is right? *cough Daewoo cough*. LOL

AntiochCali 12-26-2002 10:32 AM

I don't think there is anything wrong with Korean engineering (I'm an engineer) - the fault in the products is the manufacturing process and the lack of QC.

by-the-way, GM has been buying Dae Woo drive trains and transmission components for many years.

Darby 12-26-2002 10:57 AM

my dad thought it was funny too and decided w"what the hell" so he put one in his '63 Stingray...about the only thing it did was raise his rpm's at idle...nothing more -no gains were found when driven...

tornado is wasted money like an "electric" ebay turbo.....

I put one of those on my tractor, too! :D

pio!pio! 12-26-2002 07:27 PM

LOL the "nameless one" huh? HAHA he hasn't replied either!! He told me he got better mileage (like 1-5 miles) but could feel the loss of power.
