Tire Preference

Looking to get a set of all season tires. Wondering what people prefer and why....

BFGoodrich GForce Supersport or Toyo Proxes 4?

Or if there are others in that price range you would recommend. Looks like there is a $50 rebate with the BFGoodrich tires.

I would definitely recommend not getting all seasons. Do you drive in the snow a lot?

Sean415 05-27-2009 04:45 PM

I live in SF, but am hoping to go to Tahoe a lot this winter.

Pick up some used oem wheels and throw on some all seasons or snow tires for a winter set. Then buy some sticky summer tires - this way you don't have to suffer all year round with mediocre handling. My 2 cents.

What OCD said! Just buy some steelies with mud n snow tires for the winter months and get some sticky ones for the rest of the year. I don;t know oif this is true but it seems all season tires wear a lot faster too.

good all season tires for the snow: Continental Conti Extreme Contact

i just got goodyear eagle f1 a/s, bfg gforce sport summer tires before.
eagle f1 is sooo much quieter on the road but i have yet to test it in the rain/snow.
but as for comfort, i like it very much.
i've read reports that it gets noisy after 6k miles

I would look at:

Falken Azenis RT615
Falken FK452
Sumitomo HTR Z III

Of the three, the Azenis would have the most grip (by far) but if you want a more comfortable/quiet ride then you'd want the 452 or the HTRZIII. I had the HTRZIII and they are a good bang for the buck.

The Bridgestone RE050A, RE070, RE01R and RE11 are also very good but very expensive. I have had the RE050 and they are nice. Next for me is the RE01R, going to be put on in the next few days... cant wait!

I was in your boat...I went from SF to Tahoe this past winter. I had the Continental ContiExtremeContacts, and they worked fine on my stockers. Never really saw heavy snow though but went through the light stuff. It never really gets a chance to build on 80...
