Check out this pic that my roommate sent me this morning of a Co-worker's WRX in the parking lot. He works in Santa Clara.

Yep, that's a swarm of BEES taking up residence in the hood scoop!

joltdudeuc 02-27-2003 09:36 AM

My best guess is they did this cause it's warm in there?

that's nuts... he should rev, and let the bov go off... they'd scatter.

that's just crazy!

lol

DetailAddict 02-27-2003 10:05 AM

 WOW! Just make sure he closes ALL the doors and windows before he revs.

killaho 02-27-2003 11:25 AM

I work in SC too. Theres been bees galore there recently. Crazy pic!

Steppin Razor 02-27-2003 11:26 AM

Dude, that blows. I've heard that's its a total BlTCH to get rid of a hive once the bees have decided to make their home there. Oh and you better hope to hell that those are afracanized honeybees, they'll follow you home from work to hunt you down and make sure you don't **** with their queen again.

Hopefully they don't decide to make their home in your A/C ducting. Now that would suck. Imagine cranking it on a hot day just to het a stream of very pissed off bees shooting at your face.

mmboost 02-27-2003 12:50 PM

Any photos from when he started it? Movie?! :D

That's just outta control! Stream of air conditioned bees hahahaha, Steppin, lol.

And the hood open shot....

Impala SS AutoX 02-27-2003 05:08 PM

From the looks of the other pics he sent me (too many to post....no video though :)), they called in a beekeeper who took care of the problem.

Jay784 02-27-2003 05:13 PM

thats some major crazyness!!!!

sirhankwilliams 02-27-2003 05:43 PM

Holy Carp! I was wondering how that ended up when I saw the first pic this morning :0

This makes a good case for that mesh-in-scoop mod.

Ash 02-27-2003 06:52 PM

wow!

That is absolute COMEDY!!! hA!

DWNSHFT 02-27-2003 08:21 PM

WOW!!!! That must make you loose at least 4/10ths on his 1/4 time. hahaha But did it cost anything to have them removed?

hayscoob 02-27-2003 09:57 PM

That is a riot. Man, I needed a good laugh. That bee keeper probably did it for free. That is if he got all the bees and the queen for a honey hive.

BongMan 02-27-2003 10:04 PM

wow that really sucks.

geatreddy 02-27-2003 11:38 PM

that's insane dude...

View Askew 02-28-2003 12:34 AM

Holy sh!t, that's nuts!!

FUNKED1 02-28-2003 01:33 PM

Just occured to me that the intercooler looks a lot like one of those honeycomb racks from a bee hive. I bet they were fixin to make a new hive.

Kostamojen 02-28-2003 10:12 PM

I'm laughing so hard right now I cant breath!

White4drWRX 03-01-2003 10:35 AM

hahahahaha... crazy

brucelee 03-01-2003 12:43 PM

cyyeo 03-09-2003 11:33 PM

This brings a different level of definition to 'Su-bee', doesn't it? From the scoop hives to the drag queens. :D

AWDcamera 03-10-2003 10:28 AM

thats crazy...how long did it take for the bees to start collecting in his scoop?

Impala SS AutoX 03-10-2003 10:40 AM

I'm not sure (my roommate knows the guy, not me) but I assume the intercooler was fine when the guy drove to work in the morning. After he got to work sometime, the bees started.

If you've never seen a hive form before.....well, it's pretty cool . And it can happen VERY quickly, that many bees could have gotten in there in under an hour, easily.

AKA, where the queen bee goes, a LOT of other bees follow :D

TheOmega 11-08-2004 12:57 AM

Fun stuff, any vids yet? =)

Choku Dori 11-08-2004 04:23 PM

Whoa, how in the hell did THAT happen?!

broom_dude 11-08-2004 09:17 PM

I've had some bees stuck to my intercooler and radiator as well (not that much, of course...)
I think the bees misinterpreted the IC/radiator as there nest......
The pattern of the IC looks kind of like a bee nest....

Krinkov 05-02-2012 11:37 PM

It happens AGAINS!!! :(

Dang, OP=2003. Btw I friggin hate bees

Dartholomew 05-03-2012 07:39 AM

I remember when the OP first came up! Lol.

Just reach in there, find the queen (you can do this by feel, she'll be larger than the others) and move her to a nearby tree or shrub. The rest of the colony will follow shortly.

Oh yeah, and this:

queeg9k 05-03-2012 09:16 AM

This frightens me as I am allergic to bees.

Irrational X 05-03-2012 09:36 AM

Legendary bump sir

SkizzDawg 05-03-2012 09:56 AM

That's crazy.. 1 way to get rid of them is a fire extinguisher, they most likely wont live but it will eliminate them from the area and eliminate the threat of a sting and possible anaphylactic shock if your allergic.

FXTbrah 05-03-2012 10:11 AM

We had a hive at our shop in the wall. Plugged that **** up multiple times but once a year the bees take over still.

iLoqin 05-03-2012 10:58 AM

Someone jelly toss in the honey? lol

huck 05-03-2012 01:35 PM

So what happens if you squeeze too hard and kill the queen?

oaklandish_WRX 05-03-2012 05:34 PM

time for something like this for the hood scoop... Remove before flight - FTW!

Saw another post somewhere where a WRX scoop caught a bird in flight, but a bee's nest is NUTS.

Dartholomew 05-03-2012 08:01 PM
So what happens if you squeeze too hard and kill the queen?
I'm going to be honest. You're going to run. And you'll be chased by a huge swarm of angry bees. Then you jump into a lake and use a reed as a straw in order to breathe. The swarm will then hover over the reed for a few seconds, and then take the shape of a giant finger, which will descend and plug the opening to the reed. They you come up gasping, and the swarms takes the shape of a big hammer and smashes you on the head. Then you run again and it all starts over.

Don't squeeze too hard.

theoutbackdream 05-03-2012 08:33 PM

Gave me goosebumps when i saw all those bees..
