Thumbs up Surgery is done and Big Chopps is OK (pics)

Big Chopps is back home and doing OK. He's high as a kite from all the drugs, but knows he's at home sweet home. He got a nice surprise visit while he was being picked up by his family and his uncle Brucelee.

He needs to have a close eye for 1 month to make sure he doesn't walk unless absolutely necessary. It's a long recovery time but the doctor said he should be able to take 10 min walks in about 2 months.

Unfortunately I won't be able to go to the GST Dyno Day this Saturday so I'm counting on someone to take a full report and lot's of pictures :-)

Thank you all for wishing Chopper good luck. You guys will be seeing him at meets soon.

Well, he's happy to be home but he's not himself yet. I understand though. Looks like they had to do some major cutting.

Damn... I wish I could get my pit to stay down that long, I have to walk or run her at least once a day or she goes nuts. When I had her spayed, they told me to keep her low key for a few days and that was extremely hard. I hope he can make it, gotta be a big change for him.

The Vet gave us tranquilizers to keep him calm. Luckily he's a mellow dog so he hasn't need any.
Yea pits are very active. Our other dog is a pit mix and she needs to get out and run.
Chopper looks pit, but he's actually an American Staff. His ears (that were F$%cked up by who ever miss treated him in the past )makes him look
like a full Pit, but if you met him in person you would notice he's actually too big to be a full pit.

My girl is a pure bred Am Staff also, but I just call her pit. I figure its just a term to describe the mixing of all the breeds since theres hardly any difference anymore. People think Am Bulldogs are pits even though there is a huge difference and it just seems they all get lumped together. I figure that when people have met or been around my dog and I call her a pit, they realize how wonderful the breed really is, not the media image. The county and the vets will always know her as a boxer/bulldog mix though, I don't want anyone taking her away from me when they start targeting "pit bull terriers".

He does look like a big boy, his neck gives it away. I hope he heals fast, that doesn't look fun for a dog thats for sure. What happened to him anyways? I saw the post with the Xray photos but don't remember reading what it was.

Oh man, don't get me started with the whole media thing. My dogs get discriminated soooo F'n bad. Ones they meet them people are fine, but some MFers don't give them a chance. We clear out the dog park whenever we go.
Not sure why since my dogs have never caused any problems.

I suppose if you wanted a "patients view" of a similar procedure, you could give the Governator a call.

Glad to see your pup is doin' OK.
