Subaru XV

Not so sure about this one. Thinking sort of Audi All Road crossed with an Acura RDX? I like the new wagon, but when you lift it and adjust the body work, it looks a little odd. Pics have been around for a while, but they officially announced they will be building it, so...

iirc someone had a drive in it (car & driver?) and said it was basically unexciting and utilitarian.

I have to say, i do like the look

LOL_VTEC 02-08-2012 09:54 AM

Wow, Subaru finally made a good looking cross-over. Well their second

04GG 02-08-2012 10:05 AM

I don't mind the front end, but the back is a little off. Maybe a bit too much Toyota influence. I will reserve final judgement until I see it in person, since I didn't like the new wagon in pics but in person it looks fine. It has 3" additional ground clearance. I wouldn't expect it to be a beast in handling, but I like the idea. I actually liked the All Road, so that isn't a knock against this one.

I think this is their new mini van thing they having coming out. Least I hope so. I think its pretty cool. Toss the snowboards on it. And run to the snow.

I like it. If I get another DD, this may do. Comfort and no need to worry about ground clearance. All my cars are so solid (sporty). I guess I'm getting old. Good MPG is also plus.

McLovinMyWRX 02-08-2012 06:50 PM

i think that those tail lights make the rear look pretty ugly imo. front is cool and i like the fender lines. wheels are kinda bleh too...

hey its a oversize 2012 impreza
hey its a oversize 2012 impreza
It basically IS a 2012 wagon with a lift kit.

AWDfreak 02-08-2012 07:59 PM

Yes, it is simply a 2012 Impreza hatch with a lift kit.

And I am genuinely very excited for this car.

It is Subaru's second entry into the compact crossover segment, and promises BOTH driving fun on pavement, and decent off-road capability, a combination that to me, is just downright perfect!

Here's a post I made in some other forums:
Pretty sweet commercial for the new Subaru XV. If the XV comes to the USA, it will definitely take the place of my dying Outback once I kill the damn engine. It's got about 8.6 inches of ground clearance, is based off of the Impreza, and promises exactly what I've been looking for from a Subaru:
exceptional off-road capability with sporty driving characteristics. Sure, it won't be powerful, but all that matters is that I KNOW it will be fun to drive with a manual transmission :)

IHeartE30s 02-09-2012 07:34 AM

It is a Subaru All Road, minus the horrible engine and shotty air suspension.

I think it looks alright, wouldnt mind one for a family car.

antonch 02-09-2012 11:52 AM

It looks great. I love the front end and the rear-end. The whole car looks sharp. Much better than the regular Impreza wagon.

My beef with all Subarus is the lack of sound insulation. The road noise in pretty much every Subaru is louder than the class. Based on the measurements by Insideline it improved with newer Imprezas, but still worse than the industry norm. It's a shame because it's the only thing stopping me from buying another Subaru.

aznboi320 02-09-2012 05:38 PM

i hope they bring over the diesel too

failure 02-09-2012 05:45 PM

My Legacy is quiet, and wasn't that bad before I added the obnoxious amount of sound deadening
