The Story Of My Broken Tranny and the goons who fixed it.

So, the night before last I was driving and all the sudden "Catostrophic failure"! Doh!

First thing that comes to mind is my crappy situation. My car is my GFs means of transportation (getting to work and such) as well as mine. I decided to contact Mike at Gruppe-S... He told me to drop the car off by the morning, instead I left it in front of the shop at like 1am (cuz I couldnt go past 20mph and no one was on the road at the time) The next morning Mike calls me and tells me that my tranny is gone, totally destroyed. He didn't have a tranny in stock, but he said he'd try to find one... a couple hours later he calls me to tell me that they removed my tranny and rear diff and also gave me some good news. Apparently he found a tranny in the North Bay that he was going to pick up that evening. He said everything should be done the following day... I was like "" 35 hour turn around!? I went to bed and woke up to a phone call from Mike. He said everything was going well and that the car would be done in the late afternoon. Well, 5:00pm rolls around and guess what? Mike was true to his word, my car was done! 2 day turn around, I couldn't believe it... The best part of all of this was the price (which I will not mention without Mikes permission)... It cost 1/4 of what the dealer wanted!!!

Thanks mate.

To be honest thanks should go to the folks at LIC for hooking up the tranny and especially for them offering to come back and open up at 9:30pm for me and my crazy dog to come and collect the tranny last night (sorry I kept you so long Adam)

As for the actual work on the tranny, Tommy and Mert seem to uninstall and reinstall trannies before anyone notices they have even got the car on the lift.

Mike

Indeed, thanks to all...

Mike is so honest that I accidentally gave him $800 extra (rent money) and didn't realize it... As I;m driving home I get a call from Mike telling me that he will not accept the $800 tip...

It was a stock RS auto tranny replaced with a 2.2 tranny, basically the same thing, just a different gear ratio.

I still can't believe how fast they did this... f'in amazing.

something like this would take weeks at an ordinary shop. good thing gruppe-s is extraordinary! haha. stuff like this actually makes me want to keep owning subaru's, just because of the fact that i know there is someone i can trust under the hood of my car. that says alot about people who are **** about their cars.
