Sti Speaker question
Does anyone know the size of the door speakers on a 04 Sti. Do 6.5 inch speakers fit in a 04 sti? Thanks
|
6.5" component set in the front doors and a 4" speaker in the rear, if you want to cut out the doors in the rear you can fit a shallow 5.25"

So 6.5 all around would be to much of a hassle? |
i think spacers are needed too?

Just do speakers in the front doors.
Putting speakers in the rear doors.ruin the imaging and staging. Plus if you say they are for the rear passengers... guess what? You'll be busy talking to them instead of listening. Buy the bigeest and baddest front speakers you can afford and fit up front... trusted me... |

just to expand on why i ebelieve you dont need speakers in the rear doors.
1. stereo is still king in the car audio world. sure you dvd players and all that stuff. buti follow the car audio world (not as much as before) but what see every year at the CES is that multi channel gear has yet to make a breakthrough. 2. if are paid to drive people around, sure put speakers in the rear doors. 3. dont forget the value of a good (if not great) subwoofers. 6.5" midbass can only go so far... if you search my older posts, i will always say: 1. buy the biggest and baddest front speakers you can afford and fit. doesnt have to be in the doors. if you are creative or have a great installer, you know what i mean. 2. buy the biggest and baddest subwoofer. 3. buy the biggest and baddest 3 channel (4 channel can be bridged) amp to power #1 and #2. 4. enjoy. |
Just did my speakers 2 days ago. Stock is 6.5 in front and 5.25 in the rear.

speakers in rear doors are garbage. Forget about them and if you are creative - install speakers in rear deck. I went with 6x9 but you can go with 6.5". You'll be surprised

04 STi doors suck, without spacers the only speakers you're fitting are Focal Polyglass Slims or Pioneer slims, both of which are lacking... (and the focals are overpriced)
My stepfather's STi has polyglasses and they still rub the window if he rolls it all the way down (that's with a 2" mounting depth). I actually like having rears, otherwise it sounds hollow behind you. The simple solution is to run whatever coaxials fit back there off deck power, and it gives a nice real fill. |
