Smoke... What's wrong with my sti
I have a 05 sti with 106k
I just got it back from the body shop... And now I notice that it's smoking so bad at the turbo side!! And when I turn on my climate control the smoke comes in. Smoke is white and smell like a lil bit of burn oil.. My sti still have a warranty so I'm not scared of engine getting mess up lol Pls let me know what kinda smoke it is? |
If it's coming from the hood around where the turbo is it could be the turbo seals that are blown. It could also be from the return line if it was no put on back completely.
Check if there is any coming out of the exhaust as well which will tell you which one of the above it is. |
check the passenger side inner cv boot. it can rip and sling grease onto the downpipe
|
Kewl I'll chk tomorrow thanks
|
Most likely the seals on the turbo are done. Either get it rebuilt or go with another turbo.
|
One question though why Is it I could still be able to boost? Do u guys think it will be cover by a warranty?
|
The same thing happened with my old STi. I found out that the top mount was leaking on top of the DP and causing the smoke.
|
make sure to check the fluids.. i just fixed a power streaing leak i had. lots of smoke from turbo side.
|
a good way to find the source of smoke is to clean off all leaking oils/fluids around the suspected area and then wait until night (less external light sources) and use a bright led flashlight to help determine where the smoke trail is coming from
|
what kind of warranty does it have?
Through subaru or 3rd party warranty? if it is 3rd party, good luck with that |
Lol yup it's 3rd party lol... Mmmm weird jodice u said about the steering fluid bcauze some times it's hard for me to turn..

from which company ? |
ya make sure you check the fluid level out, it looks much like oil but it has a different smell, prob be a light brown color. i wouldn't recommend driving it tho. power stearing leaks are know for starting engine fires.

I think it's like a Washington bank or something I'll let u know tomorow |
wait, body shop? can you elaborate on that a bit more? what were they repairing? did they need to take the oil line off your turbo?
