Smart Meter Opt Out?
So recently I got a letter from PG&E saying they will begin installing Smart Meters in my area. Meter is inside the house so they can't just install it unless they enter my home. How do I opt out? Has anybody opted out or kept PG&E from installing Smart Meters in their home?

The Smart meters are great are a good thing, and work great. They don't cause problems, do you know how they work and why they are switching over to them?

No they won't go to your house. They have a chip thing installed and they just drive by and it gives them a reading from the street.

growing plants does not make someone a criminal IMHO. ;) |
I've heard lots of controversy over them. Some say they put off a lot of radiation, some say they meter wrong and overcharge people

I dont think there an opt-out of this. as far as them being good. IDK about that yet. my last place I lived PG&E had to replace 4 of them in 6 months.

Well, it was designed to "save" consumers money, but that's not the case. I've heard all the horror stories about how everybody's power bill went up because of the Smart Meter. They installed it in my sister's house in Daly City without their knowledge and their bill jumped up quite a bit. You could google Smart Meter and you'll have all sorts of sites that oppose the usage and installation of the meters. They are trying to setup up dynamic pricing with these meters, to basically charge the consumer more during times when power usage throughout the area/city is heavier. |

I'd say about $25 to $50, depending on the season. |
We had one installed and the first month the PG&E bill jump over $200.0 and no one in the house was doing anything different. They came and replaced it its work alright since. Still not a fan though.

Same, mine has been lower or the same as before the meter was installed. |
