Ill start it off by mentioning a resturant located in San Jose by the name of Grand View. Awsome night view of San Jose and beyond !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Food is Avg. They serve as of what I can remember chicken and steak plates. Price per plate is very decent from 20-30 a plate.
If your looking for a resturant with a view and not many people at all this is your place.

I live in San Jose but I'm willing to travel any where in the middle of San Jose up to San Fran. Basically any where within 45 min. of San Jose

There's a nice mountain biking spot that my friends and I named "Restaurants". I don't know why this would benefit you in any way, shape, or form, but I felt this thread needed this information.

i mentioned this in a previous post, but tanglewood on santana row is probably the best south bay restaurant (in my opinion). Quinton Topping is the exec chef and he really knows what he's doing. Tanglewood is associated with La Folie and Left Bank which are both Roland Passot restaurants. Quinton is a Harvard grad also, which i know has nothing to do with cooking, but you can imagine his learning curve.

every new decent restaurants i've ever been to, I always order prime rib (if they have it) to compare against House of Prime Ribs. You know what? House of Prime Ribs is still THE number 1 in my book!
Oh Elephant Bar off of Hamilton is not too bad. I like their ribs and lamb. I've also tried Elephant Bar at other locations and they suck!
Tony Roma's is pretty good. But their steak and beef ribs sucks. So that pretty much leave you with baby back.
Cheesecake Factory is also pretty decent with good pasta and obviously cheesecake. There is one by Valley Fair mall.
Of course you have your typical Black Angus and Red Lobster both off of 85 and Alamden Expressway exit.
good luck...
