Question about Detailing

Ok so I am in San Diego on buisness so I don't have a place where I can wash my car by hand or take it to freddie if I'm feeling lazy so I took my car, finally, to get it detailed. I drop it off at 12 and am told that it should only take 3 hours to get done.

Now I usually don't like giving anybody the keys to my car becasue I'm worried that they might go joy riding in it or abuse it in some other way. I want to be the only one to abuse my car :D

So I call the place back at 3 to see if it's ready and they tell me that it'll be another 1 1/2 hours. Does 4 1/2 hours seem right for getting a car detailed? I only asked for the exterior to be detailed. When I left the place they had already started detailing my car, so I'm kinda wondering if they are doing something I don't know about, aka driving it. Or am I being paranoid?

Wish I had the accesport, that way I could have just put it into Valet mode. I'm also worried because the guy's eyes perked up when I told him that it was a WRX. He said those cars have a lot of 'scoot'

hehe, turning our cars over to people for services really suck because they like to push them and find out what all the "hype" surrounding them is.

This could just be a case of they had other cars that they prioritized ahead of you, or maybe they're doing a REALLY good job. Or maybe they're out seeing if the rev limiter really works :|

Yeah I'm just obsessive compulsive when it comes to my car. The guy was still working on my car when I got to the place after work. All in all he spent 5 1/2 hours working on the car. It looks really good.... and all for $80 bucks, not bad. Too bad my car is black so it won't last till tommrrow. So if ya are ever in the SD area and need some detailing work I'd have to recommend Diamond services.

Oh and a :monkey: once again to Subaru paint. The hood still has spots on it that are not gonna come out. THe detail guy said looks like the spots are deep in the paint. Seems to be the crapy Subaru paint...Perhaps it's time for a carbon fiber hood painted black to match the car:D

Last night I was watching Real TV, and they stated that San Diego Car Washes had the highest rate of car thefts in the country at one time. Your lucky they weren't scheming on your car.

And remember, they can't make the odometer go backwards by driving it backwards, Bueller.

I'm the manager of a carwash and detail center, and depending on how much the customer pays, and what services they desire, it can take from 45min to 4hrs to detail the exterior only.

You don't have to leave your keys, just tell them not to move your car, or check your mileage, stay there, etc.

What products did they use?

5.5hrs of work for $80 is a steal...

Our detailing services run from $15 for mats only to $600 for a complete detail with wet sanding and the works.

i got mine for $50 HAHA
exterior- wash, clay, polish and wax.
interior- vac, clean dash, wash mats, and something else.

all done in 4hrs beat that :p

It's done by professional in a shop, not on some body's garage;)
