Unhappy wtf subaru wiper blades?

Anyone know why subaru has horrible wiper blade setups?? I live in Tahoe with a 08 wrx and it seems when a little bit of snow is on my windshield, the wiper blades seem to not want to work. The bolt will unseize and the whole blade will fail. I am having to crank that bolt down everytime it snows... and it likes to fail when I am driving in a blizzard as well. As you can tell, this is a huge hazard for myself and other drivers... anyone have advice? I read somewhere that 05 subys had a wiper blade recall?? Is this true?

FYI - It seems like the driver-side wiper will fail first.

My car is 7 years older so it might be an entirely different set-up, but I've only had mine seize up like that once when I was really stupid and turned them on with about 6 inches of fresh sierra cement on the car. After that little lesson I make sure to brush off any accumulation and lift the blades to make sure they aren't frozen down before hitting the switch.
Never had a problem with them while snow was falling.
If you've stripped the knurling on the wiper shaft, eventually tightening up the bolt isn't going to help, might have those things looked at...

Amazon has pretty sweet deals on them. I installed mine a month ago before the rain started to come down hard.

the oem stuff sucks. Winter testing over the years has shown multiple failures.

I have the Michelin's from Costco. Under $10 each and they are amazing. Very happy with the results and has been coping with sub freezing temps and snow very well.

You're talking about the nut that holds the wiper assembly to the motor right? If it keeps coming loose, hit it with some blue loctite... Nothing to do with your wiper blade.

+1 Amandyke - Thanks for the help! The wiper blade was not the problem, as I have brand new Bosch blades...but that little nut is irritating. Again thanks for the help guys. Have a great New Year's and drive safe out there!!
