Does anyone know how many "performance" auto parts or garages there are in San Francisco? I know of MachIII and the Autofreak in Japantown but how many others exist?
If you don't know just get jiggy

Mach 3 was pathetic. I will never go back there nor recommend anyone to them. About the worse service I've ever received. Everyone in the store either ignored me or made out like it was a hassle to help me.
No problem, next time I'll buy my rims from SubyDude like I should've done in the first place.

I received similar treatment as Huck, only at Gotelli's. This was a long time ago when they only catered to the hot rod set, so maybe things have changed.

Vision Performance on Noriega and 20-something. Very pleasant staff, reasonable prices. I always stop by there after I get a haircut across the street, even if it's just to talk story with whoever's in
Auto Reverse in Milbrae on El Camino near where MAS used to be is good too. They have very reasonable prices and friendly staff.
There's also Infinite Auto on Balboa. They used to be good when Mason ran the place, but I hear he sold the business. It's been a very average shop since then.
Gotelli's was more of a domestic speed shop, I always thought... at least, that's what it seemed like last time I was there.
Oh, and I'd avoid M Motorsports in San Bruno -- high prices and somewhat incompetent staff. Plus, their name is blatant rip-off of BMW's M Performance division

Vision performance on Noriega is a good shop. Really friendly, helpful staff. I live a couple of blocks away and stop by occasionally to chat.
I bought a set of wheels/tires there... very fast, friendly service and great prices.

Yes I've known the guys who own Vision for years. Very nice guys. Honest, helpful. I'd buy more parts from them if they were as cheap as Gruppe-S and MPJ
I actually have pestered them for a while now about trying to become *****-out WRX suppliers, that everyone in SF would come to them. I like Gruppe-S and MPJ but I'm tired of driving to the East Bay on weekends for parts when I already drive to Oakland everyday for work. So all of you in SF bug them and tell them I told you to do so

Thanks for replies...
*Now do you think SF needs more performance shops?*
Definitely an MPJ/Gruppe-S type of shop would be great, though SF rent is expensive so prices would be higher.
Any thoughts?
