OT: Ski Resort Help/Opinions
I grew up skiing in Whistler every weekend... best place in North America hands down.
But since I now live in SF, here are my top 3 Tahoe favorites:
Kirkwood (have a seasons pass... lots of good steeps and backcountry)
Squaw... good, but so expensive. Lots of steeps and cliffs!
Sugarbowl

Seriously, MLK weekend is probably one of the worst possible times to go anywhere near Lake Tahoe. As an aside, I went to Park City and the Canyons a few years ago. The Canyons was absolutely fantastic! I had a couple great days there.

Don't go to Boreal. Ever.
I've never been there, but everyone I've ever talked to that has hated it. Short runs, long lines, very little selection.
Kirkwood mainly tailors to mid-intermediate and up. I felt there were gaps between beginner and intermediate at Kirkwood. But if you're at a level where you want intermediate runs, you're probably going to like Kirkwood.

if you're going on mlk weekend you should think about a place that has good access. this rules out northstar, squaw, alpine, and sugar bowl. unless you can get to the resort early i wouldn't go anywhere near those places on a crowded weekend. your best bets would probably be kirkwood, S@T or heavenly.
