One of my spokes cracked ...
Whack...
One of my spokes on my FNO1RC's cracked apparently. I don't know how because I never curbed my wheels since i'm super careful with them. Is it even possible to get something like that fixed or am I better off just buying a new rim? If I need to buy a new one... if someone has an extra 5zigen FN01RC 17x8 +48 rim, let me know! Shoot me an offer and i'll see whats up. If I can get it fixed, maybe one of you know of a good shop thats local? I'm in Santa Rosa so preferably somewhere up here would be dope. Thanks. |

Are these the regular FN01R-C or are they the Hot Version? Any idea how/why it cracked?

well if its the C than its the cheaper (C for "cast") the forged ones are just FNO1R. if its the C just buy another one, arent they only like $125? not going to get it repaired/refinished for less than that :( |
I knew someone who had cracked a spoke on a rota, they said they were just driving through the hills on a spirited run with a friend. The next day they noticed one spoke was cracked and we replaced the wheel that day. We just figured it broke from stress and was thankful was cheap to replace. I would say just replace the wheel to be on the safe side.

He isn't the only one... |
lets not start in on the "Rotas crack" stories again. His wheel was not even a Rota.

I know nothing about rota crack stories so not trying start anything honestly. It could have been any wheel in my eyes but was just stating what happened in this case. My main point is just replace the wheel to be on safe side. In my eyes if its cracked repairing it would worry me that it would happen in the same spot again and maybe cause worse issues. As someone stated that it could be the cast version and for the price to replace it would be better safety in my eyes.
*edit* Tried to add this before but didn't post... I am by no means bashing a vendor as I have no issues with the wheeldude crew as they are all a good group of guys. Also to note we replaced it with the same wheel and was very happy we were able to pick one up that same day. Crap happens to many parts out there no matter what company it is. |
Yeah i think i'll probably just replace the wheel since it's not that much. I'll take a pic of it so you can see. How it cracked? I'm not even sure... i'm guessing probably during a drive, i probably hit a hole or something and from the impact it might have cracked...
Well, now's a good time to unmount and apply a fresh new coat of paint to my wheels. What should i do, keep them gold or paint them flat black? I'm debating... I got a PSM 04. |
you sure you didn't buy a rota knockoff of that 5zigen wheel and someone skillyfully put the 5zigen logos on it
|
Black would look good and at least might help hide the brake dust easier :D

Definitely. It will look better nd hide brake dust better. |

Right, because every non-Rota wheel is virtually invincible from damage. That makes perfect sense. So it must be a Rota if any wheel bends/cracks. |
