Ohhh... my aching knees

For a little old skool.... my daughter wanted to take a trip down to Irving Street with her scooter. Thought maybe we could go to Starbucks. No way I felt like walking the whole way so I whipped out my old skateboard...

G&S FibreFlex Board
Tracker Trucks
Road Rider 4's

I live on a hill so I figured the first part was gonna be easy. Slaloming down the street was fun. Oh crap!!!! I forgot how to stop on this damn thing. I tried using my skid pad on the back but clearly it was worn down to nothin... bailed off the board and it went crashing into a garage door. No damage tho. Skated the rest of the way there and back. My knees are killing me. Got home, cleaned off my board and put back where I found it.

That's was enough for today... I'm too old for this...

...my trucks need tightening tho....

It's not the riding that's so bad. It's the falling down. Man, that has changed.
I can remember having 10 good falls in one day. Now, If I had one, I'd probably
have to go to the hospital.

And skateparks, when I was young *steps up on old man soapbox* we had
no skateparks. We had a curb and a parking block and 25 feet of smooth
cement. And if the cops came, we had to run.

The first time I went to Gruppe-S, I drove by that public park that has a
small half pipe and almost wrecked my car. I had to stop and take a picture
I was in such shock.

I tell you kids these days.

Thanks for the old days reminder.

My first skateboard was a red piece of board mounted on a set of four METAL wheels. NO IT WAS NOT NEW. It was a hand-me-down. I swear to God, the smallest rock would send you flying into a faceplant. I sat down on that **** pretty much of the time. My second one was a surfboard shaped deck on top of CLAY wheels. That was just a little better than the metal one.

Then it came... saw it first at Macy's sports department...

a purple Banzai aluminum skateboard with polyurathane wheels...

God, I had to have that bad boy as soon as I saw it... $150 if I remember correctly. Finally saved my money for the G&S FibreFlex board....

When I was a kid, I used to own a Dyno BMX bike. My friends and I would laugh at anyone who bought a cushy seat. We would ride around in a hard plastic seat (harder the better), with a laid back seat post.

Fast forward nearly 20 years, and the BMX bike is no longer. Replacing it is a Cannondale mountain bike. The last time I took that thing out we hadn't ridden in years, and we were complaining that the cushy seat wasn't cushy enough and how sore my *** was afterwards. How times have changed.

Hahahah I remember the yellow plasic ones from the 70s.... forget the name, but it was funny. The oldest board I saw had clay wheels!

Butt-boarding down steep hills kicked _aa!, but kinda feel bad for making my parents buy so many pairs of shoes!
