Is this a good deal for 2020 STI?

Hi,

I have been working with several Subaru dealerships both in my area (Bay Area) and outside for a 2020 STI Base model in Crystal White Pearl with no options and accessories.

Here is a breakdown between the 2 dealerships (Bay Area California and out of state)

Bay Area California Subaru Dealership 2020 STI Base Model Crystal White Pearl no options
Selling price: $35129.98
CA Sales tax: $2993.27
CA license fee: $557.75
Documentation: $85.00
Grand total: $38766.00

Out of State Subaru Dealership 2020 STI Base Model Crystal White Pearl no options
:
Selling price: $34,870
CA Sales tax: $2,963.95
Documentation: $395.00
Grand total (without Shipping): $38,228.95
Shipping: $800-$900
Grand total (With Shipping): $39,028.95 - $39,128.95

I also have a $500 Ambassador Subaru coupon that I can use.

I am leaning towards going with the Bay Area California Subaru Dealership.

What do you think?

So you can take it home today for cheaper, am I missing something?
I wonder why they are not cheaper after the rumors that the new one is going to have 400HP

The dilemma is that I would be paying less if I get it from the out of state dealership as far as the car price and OTD but with shipping it’ll be more than what the Bay Area dealership. But for both cases I would need to order it which can take anywhere from 6-8 weeks that I was told by both.

OTD is $537 difference then it goes to shipping.
Where is the out of state? would it be a vacation to pick it up? If you are shipping it and adding the $800 ???

What are you doing with CA licensing on the out of state?

Thanks for your input! The out of state dealership is located in NJ which is the other side of the US from where I am located which is SF. The cost of flying and driving it back with gas would be a good chunk of change. If I were to go with the out of state dealership I would decide to ship the car which can range anywhere from $800-$900.

If I were to just compare the OTD pricing between the 2 dealerships. The out of state one would only be saving me at most $537.05.

But if I include the shipping cost for the out of state versus the OTD for the Bay Area dealership. I would be paying anywhere between $262.95 - $362.95 more.

I probably wouldn't order from the other side of the country unless you're up for a drive back lol. That might be fun and you'll get the break-in done on the way. I'd probably go with the local one, especially considering it is basically the same car.

OOooohhh Thought maybe it was in CO and you could go snow boarding for a weekend then drive it back.

Flight + Gas = a boat load of cash.

I narrowed my search down to 2 Bay Area Subaru dealerships after negotiating with 17 dealerships. Just when I was planning to put in an order I was emailed from one of the dealership that SOA Distributor has currently paused from accepting new orders. Below is the message that I got.

SOA Distribution is continuing to monitor the situation surrounding our supply chain in light of the effects of the coronavirus.
Because we are currently unable to inform customers of an exact delivery date of a new order, the sold order system has been temporarily shut down. We will reopen the sold order system once we can better determine future production and allocation schedules.

I confirmed the above with the other dealership.

Due to this recent development, one of the dealership does have a 2020 STI in Crystal White Pearl Option Package #2 however it comes with Sport Performabce 1B and Popular Package #1. Below is the breakdown of the quote both the MSRP and how much the dealership is offering me.

MSRP Breakdown:
2020 STI Crystal White Pearl: $36,995.00
Sport Performance 1B (STI Short Throw Shifter, Shift ****): $668.00
Popular Package #1 (Mirror Compass w/homelink, Center Armrest, Cargo Tray, Bumper Applique Sedan, Wheel Lock Kit): $797.00
Standard Destination Charge: $900.00
Total Vehicle Price: $39,360.00

Dealer Cost Breakdown:
2020 STI Crystal White Pearl: $34,960.00
Sport Performance 1B (STI Short Throw Shifter, Shift ****): $484.00
Popular Package #1 (Mirror Compass w/homelink, Center Armrest, Cargo Tray, Bumper Applique Sedan, Wheel Lock Kit): $516.00
Standard Destination Charge: $900.00
Total Vehicle Price: $36,860.00

I wanted know if the Dealer Cost is a good deal? If not, is there room for me to bring this down further? How much others have paid
with similar package? Lastly, should I just wait for SOA Distributor to reopen there orders?

Thank you,
