Not really sure if anyone would be able to help me, but i bought a S4 on CL the other day for 500. Thinking it was a great deal i went out and bought it. Later on that day my friend told me it was to good to be true and the phone was probably stolen. Didn't believe him so we looked up the IMEI number or whatever and sure enough the phone is "blacklisted". I put in my sim card and it suspended my account and i had to call AT&T and deal with the whole process of restoring my line again. Is there any way I can make this phone work properly or did i just spend 5 bills on a paper weight?

(by the way, I've already got chewed out by the girlfriend so no need to be mean about my stupid mistake)

Paperweight. Your best bet would be to strip the thing for parts and try to sell those on eBay but that is a hassle in itself if you don't know what you are doing.

+1^^^

its like buying Disneyland tickets off CL

Once the IMEI is black listed you can't take it anywhere even straight talk or Tmob

Best to sell it to China

Only times I frequent CL, to sell an old TV and furniture or to look for a massage.

Paperweight. Sorry dude .. When buying a used phone always make sure to see the phone is not blacklisted before handing cash. I use to trade phones a lot when I was a bigger android developer and realized that some people are just *** holes.

yeah the thing is that i can easily post it on CL and do the same thing that guy did to me, but that'll mean bad juju will be coming my way.
My friend told me they can unlock it and it make it work for T-mobile though

still going to be a blocked IMEI.. The company can not unblock it since the original owner decided to screw around/stolen.

You're actually in luck. You can still resell blacklisted GSM phones for quite a profit. It being AT&T you can probably get atleast 400 .

See eBay

I'm not sure if its able to use overseas... if so you may be in luck.. I never had to deal with a blocked IMEI but I wonder if its actually possible to use it on a different carrier overseas.

Have fun with it. I'm still on pre-order for Verizon but I'm using it for a different reason >.> ROM development ftw! Verizon always takes way to long to release anything
