In need of a Torx bit....
Hey i-clubbers, I'm looking to borrow a Torx bit that is used for the rear differential fluid bolt. Oh, and possibly the one used for the tranny as well (if it's different).
If you've got 'em I'd gladly buy you a drink (non alcoholic
) for your troubles.
Thanks.

FWIW, I just bought a Torx T-70 (transmission) off of Amazon for ~$7.00. I couldn't find one in the local hardware or auto parts stores.
For your rear diff, it's probably a square hole, not a torx, and you can use a 1/2" ratchet to unscrew it. I just did my '04 Forester and it worked fairly well.

I got my torx at autozone for about $7 too. 1st place I went to was sold out, but they pointed me to another local store that had it in stock.
The rear is a square for me too, you can use a ratchet head without a socket on it. If your ratchet doesn't fit, try an extension. I'm not sure if it's 1/4" or 3/8th's tho.

Haha, now that I look at it, I just remembered it's square. So I've got the rear diff tools.
I'll check around for the T70 at another auto parts store, as the one closest to me didn't have them. I'd order online, but I'm servicing the gear fluids tomorrow.

I had to use a 1/2" ratchet for the rear diff as I couldn't get the breaker bar to fit at the correct angle under the car. If it were up on a lift that'd be one thing, but sitting on jackstands is another. Good luck!

Umm, if you're doing the rear differential fluid change, you MAKE SURE TO OPEN THE TOP BOLT FIRST!! If you don't, and you can't get the top one open, you'd better have a way of turning the car upside down in order to fill it.
