Meet in Santa Cruz

Who wants to meet up for some lunch and a drive in santa cruz this weekend?!

Where: Santa Cruz, maybe at a restaurant, parking lot, or view point along hwy 1. The location has not been decided 100% because the parking lots apparently arent that big for a meet (I live in the san mateo area so I would not know).

When: We will shoot for 11AM-1PM Foood. Then 1PM-2PM Drive! These are rough estimates but it shouldn't be longer than a 1 hour drive.

What: Make sure to bring money for food, your subie and of course yourself

Hope to see some of you guys there!!

Listen to this guy. I regularly do that same journey and when it's stormy the road is full of debris and slippery as all hell.

cool to see you posted in here...sucks but its probably gonna rain all weekend and roads down here get crapped on by trees/branches

The parking lot at Greyhound Rock is big enough. I won't be out there this weekend though.

I'd be down for a drive but snow in tahoe means I'll be up there, plus I'd rather stay off those roads in the rain.

Trust me I know...this is just in case it clears up and is sunny. If not I agree with everybody here

plus I am running on hopes and dreams that this is true: http://www.weather.com/weather/tenday/95060?locid=95060

either way ill go lol

dmasta46 02-16-2011 03:53 PM

Ok I just thought of an idea..

So IF weather permits, those of you in the bay area, would you be willing to meet at the vista point on Hwy 35? It is after 84 and just before alpine. This way everybody could meet up there at about 10:30AM (ideally) and we could all convoy over to Santa Cruz, down hwy 9. Once in santa cruz we could park at Cooper Street Plaza Shopping Center. From there we can walk to a restaurant and eat. From there we will meet some guys from UCSC and Monterey and some other people (possibly) and then go for the cruise, most likely down hwy 9 to Boulder Creek.

Mind you this is only IF the roads arent wet and its not raining. Lets pray for sun everybody!

slugrx 02-16-2011 04:20 PM

dang the cooper street plaza is basically a trader joes/cvs with other things there...parking lot gets pretty crowded on weekends with everyone goin to trader joes...

best food right there would be woodstocks pizza...i might be down to roll by...

my favorite road is going up empire grade from the west entrance of ucsc, follow the roads (ice cream grade - pine flat - bonny doon is one way) and itll take you back to highway one down bonny doon rd i think

dmasta46 02-16-2011 04:37 PM

google earth is really deceiving then...lol

Cuz when I was checking it for parking lots and it showed the national bridges one almost completely empty and the cooper plaza is also pretty empty. hmmm maybe its only during the weekday they take pics.

Anyway you probably know where the best places are but im guessing there not in santa cruz. So for now that is the plan

slugrx 02-16-2011 04:41 PM

its a hit or miss with both of them...most likely natural bridges wont be that crowded with bad weather reports, and the tjs plaza, youll be able to find parkin, but maybe not multiple spots together...

theres a parking lot at river street/1, has a whole foods and a ross, but there are annoying speed bumps

OneManArmy 02-16-2011 08:06 PM

Plan on lots of tree's and brush and crap like that on the road. It's been windy as all hell.

stirs 02-16-2011 08:12 PM

not to be a dick but santa cruz is gay...''literally'' to many cops that dont take kindly to fast looking cars, specialy 4cyls... in the other hand the drive sounds good
