Locksmith in San Jose.. Cut and Program

Does anyone know of a good locksmith that can cut and program a key with the immobilizer chip? Preferably in the San Jose area.

The dealer was quoting me like $149 to cut and program the new key.

Not in San Jose, but I went to Lockworks Unlimited in Redwood city, and they cut and programmed for $100.

XxSti05xX 03-13-2012 05:16 PM

That's a reasonable price. I just called a few places and some are quoting me even higher then the dealer.

Wow..

Well according to the guys where I went, Subarus are one of the harder keys to cut... BTW, if you need a remote programmed, get one off Keyless Remotes - Car Remotes, Replacement Key fobs, Keyless Entry Remotes, Transponder Car Keys And then look here It is the cheapest way out there. Subaru wanted to charge me $200 just for the remote. another $30 just for program.

05 stis and on i believe. 100-150 is a decent price for reprogramming and cutting a key. We pay Hernandez locksmith 100$ to reprogram keys for us at times. I dont think he'll guarantee the Subaru ones though.

Give Steven's Creek Parts a call and ask for Ryan (Unit91 on i-club). He's the parts and service director and will give you a good price.

Don't mind his expression of art through facial hair, he offers good help and his guys do too.

Ya $100-150 I think is a fair price. Some places I called wanted well above $150. Had one quote me $225 :jawdrop:

I sent him a PM but he never got back to me. I'm gonna swing by tomorrow and see what he can do.

There's a place on the corner of Phealen and 7th Street that advertises they can do chip'd keys
Never used them, but they always look busy

theoutbackdream 03-13-2012 09:23 PM

I got quoted $60 for just the key getting cut. $30 for program. then tax at Lockworks Unlimited

I called them today and they quoted me $80 to cut and program the key, but said they couldn't guarantee it bc I was gonna use a key from a 2005 Legacy GT. Didnt matter bc I knew it would work.

I also had emailed Capitol Subaru and they quoted me $15 to cut and $145 to program. Hella rip off

I then decided to drive over to Stevens Creek Subaru and talk to Ryan. Asked him how much and he said, free to cut and $75 to program.
Told him he had a deal. 30mins later they were done and everything works great.

Bumping up an old thread.

I got 2 of my keys cut for $4 total and I have programmed the key less entry myself. I just need the immobilizer on both keys to be programmed. Any recommendations?

FL4T 01-22-2013 07:16 AM

bump for an answer please.

XxSti05xX 01-22-2013 08:23 AM

Best bet would probably be at the dealer, thats where I got the best deal. Locksmiths around where I live wanted way to much.

kspek 01-22-2013 10:55 AM

I have a few immobilizer keys i need programmed too. Subaru meet at the dealer?

wombatsauce 01-22-2013 11:13 AM

I want to see if I can get that flip-out key for my car. That was my favorite part about my VW and my Camaro..

Also, I need to get this done but for my SAAB, and my mechanic recommended a place in the SouthBay so I will see if I can get that info from him.

maybe we can get a group discount :D

I called the dealer today and asked how much it would be to program 2 keys and they said $90. Anyone paid more or less? If so, where?
