Learning how to use Tactical Pen
Anyone recommend places to learn how to use a tactical pen (aka kubotan) for SELF DEFENSE.
I do not want spend tons of time learning how to be a kubotan master so I can go to kubotan tournaments.
I just want to learn enough to use as a last ditch situation desperation. My life is very tame, and I don't get into bar fights, etc. So likely hood of me needing it is almost zero. However, I feel that because I will never get good enough with bare hands to be that effective, I feel that the tactical pen would give me the slight increase I need over bare hands. I dunno. Correct me if I'm wrong. And I think a tactical pen is just cool.
So, really it's more for the cool factor, but I want the practical element to it; I'm not interested in doing kubotan demonstrations at community events either.
Anyone know how to use a tactical pen?

I'd also be interested for the wife and I. It's a great friggin skill to have and is insanely effective as a last ditch. Some of the tac pens out there are ridiculous.
Also, as a disclaimer... CA laws apply here, so don't go around wielding a real one... You have to adapt a sturdy real pen to the situation, and it has to be purely in defense in a life threatening situation. (Why I want my wife to learn more than myself... )

I'm laughing over here Danny at the thought of you going for your pen in a life or death situation....you know, instead of the arsenal of high powered guns that you have!

In all seriousness though, how is this a better idea than just carrying a legal sized knife?

This may be more sensible. If you have an attacker, why not draw some blood to ID them?
