is the kartboy bushing required in order for the STi short throw to work?

I just got my STi short shifter installed without the kartboy bushing. Is the bushing required? If not, should I get it? Anyone know where to order it?

Thanks

I have the STi short shift kit...and the guys at Kartboy told me that their bushing will fit with the kit. I was thinking about getting it...but I got a set for my wife's car and the difference was so miniscule that I thought it was $ I could spend better elsewhere on my car.

If you want to order them...www.kartboy.com is a good place to start. I just kept an eye out on the Private Classifieds and got a set for $20 shipped.

The bushing is not required as the short throw shifter kit already comes with a bushing. The only difference between the stock bushing and the STI bushing is just a slight difference in thickness. The kartboy bushings are really stiff in the sense that when you shift it will feel like you clicked into gear and the shifts will be a lot harder.

So should I get the kartboy bushing and put it in the Sti (not the stock) shifter or the bushing in the Sti is good enough already?

Thanks

The STi bushing and stock bushing are the exact same dimensions and shape. It's been debated that the STi bushing is slightly stiffer. But I've felt both and if it is it's hardly noticable, put it on the end of a lever system and I think you'd be hard pressed to tell the difference. Age and production tolerances may play a factor in the diffence in feel is all. That's what I think anyway. Have a look here:

The diffence between the OEM/STi and Kartboy are like night and day. The KB is much stiffer.

Have a look here for how to install the KB bushings:

Shifts feel crisper (aka notchier in a good way) but you may get more NVH coming into the cabin because the bushing is stiffer and will transmit a little more sound.
