JDM ECU? or USDM ECU? I NEED HELP!

I'm currently installing a JDM EJ20 into my 2005 Subaru WRX.

My question is...Do I need to buy a JDM ECU? Or can I use the USDM ECU? If I do end up with the JDM ECU will it work with the harness and other assessories?

I need some gurus!

If you want to pass smog you'll need a USDM ECU.

JDM ECU is your only choice for AVCS.

If you need to "get by" the WRX ECU will run the engine, but as mentioned you really want the JDM ECU.

In my case, AVCS not working = 14psi @ 3900 RPM
AVCS working & tuned for = 14psi @ 3200 RPM

Needless to say, that makes a huge difference in drivability.

Yep. And its not only spool, but even off boost response and drivability.

I can confirm this running an EJ257 long block without AVCS (all the sensors and feeds are there, just don't have the ECU, harness, pedals, or IM/TB). Driveability sucks.
