I like the analogy in that thread Odyss3y posted.
"Hey...not everybody wants to cook their own dinner anyway."
See, you can cook your own dinner and know what you're putting into it. Or you can go to McDonald's or Burger King and have no clue except that it's remotely close to what you think is in your food, but it's fast and convenient. Unless you go to a really good restaurant and you're completely sure you know what's in your food.
Sorry for going off tangent.
What I meant to say is that people like to do their own oil changes because they want it done right, like the people who love to cook for themselves. Then there's people who'd rather save time and don't mind questionable quality, they'd get it done anywhere. However, there's people like me who doesn't have the tools or the space (slanted driveway, no garage space, no sidewalk because I live at the end of the street) to do an oil change by myself, but know trusted mechanics or friends to do it for me.
Yes, I'm going to be honest, I'm that lazy simply because I don't wanna be a knuckle head and forget something by screwing up my own car. So I get someone I trust and knows more than I do to do work for me. I'm just paying more for the simple piece of mind for my own sake rather than the convenience.
