i am getting a new engine

well all of you know the troubles i have been having with my 04. if not then i will tell you. first my car was running very bad and my check engine light came on. went to green valley to have it checked out. they said i bent a valve. so they changed the whole left head and gave it back to me. when i got it back it was driving worse than when i brought it there. the told me that i must have bent another valve on the right side, and that if they didn't find anykind of defect that they would void my warrenty.

so i came to i-club looking for some help. i had a couple people say subaru of santa cruz. soi made the 120 mile drive to santa cruz told them what was going on and told them what green valley did. when the shop foreman drove my car he said "it feels like the pre-cat came apart, but i want to look at it first to be sure." they open it up and wow right on the money for the problem. they inspected my engine because they noticed some bolts missing. found an oil leak on the left head valve cover. they went ahead and checked the timing also. when they did this they had noticed that on the left head one of the cam gears was damaged and they couldn't put on the tool to time the motor. come to find out it was getting ready to jump and ruin my engine. when i got it back it was a whole new car. the power was awsome. it was faster than it ever was. well about a mile away from home my check engine light came on again.

i took the car to a friends house who owned a obd-2 scanner hooked it up and said #4 cylinder misfire. so i brought the car back out to santa cruz. they opened up the engine and my piston lands were gone on 2 of my cylinders.(for you peple who don't know what piston lands are it is the metal separating the piston compression rings and oil ring) so they inspected the cylinder walls for any scratches. found a good one big enough to fit a finger nail in. so today they ordered a new engine for me. i will probably recieve sometime after christmas, but if i am lucky might get it back before. well thought i would keep you guys informed.

good to hear that someone's finally taking care of you. i can't believe that a subaru tech would have the complete and utter lack of pride in his job to do such **** poor work on a car. he should be written up and fired if it happens again.

good luck on upgrading to the STi, they are sick!!

wow, one mor egood reason to go with a catless up-pipe

I hear you can get a brand new STi short block for around $1500! Thats almost cheaper than a good rebuild, Its almost worth just getting one to have around, that is once your warranty runs out
