From my own experiences, the cost of shipping a car can vary depending on which company you use and how far you're shipping your car. I've used these guys at A1 Auto Transport | Reliable Car Shipping & Transport Services to ship two of my cars and have gotten what I felt like were pretty good deals. Their website will give you quotes from a couple different companies, which i found helpful when trying to figure out what a good deal looked like. Good luck with your move!

just had my girlfriends corolla shipped from ky to ca there is a national shortage of drivers right now, so we had to pay 1050, we had gotten quotes for as low as 700 but 2 weeks went by and they never picked up the car cuz the drivers wouldn't do it for that cheap...

I had one shipped from sac to portland and it cost $800 on an open carrier, not cheap.

My dad's best friend does "transportation" He does anything from Truck Loads of Oranges, to tractors, and even a flat bed full of new cars for a car lot.. He says its an awesome gig and he makes pretty good money doing it.. At least good enough to have a full time staff of like 10 drivers all with their own rigs., and run a towing company at the same time.

What he said. My dad had three cars shipped from Raleigh, NC to Sonoma County and they were just under that price because he shipped three of them at the same time. These were classic cars in an enclosed trailer FWIW. I'm sure you could find a better deal if it was an open carrier.

It really depends on the company you go with. You should shop around for the best price. Also, try Autoline Transport for a quick quote online.

Thought I would join in on the discussion since this is what I relatively do as a business. The shipping business is a very tough business to get into. Everyone wants a low price and brokers know this. They know the owner will go with whom ever has the lowest price within reason , but what they dont realize is the vehicles dont get moved at this price.

The drivers can haul 6-10 vehicles on their carriers. They like anyone else will pick up the jobs that pay the best, leaving those lower offers behind. Some people think I will go a low price in hopes to get on as the last vehicle to fill the truck. No, you wont. Most drivers would rather drive without that vehicle on there truck.

I dont get paid if your vehicle doesnt get moved so for me it doesnt make sense to write a low offer. I get calls everyday from someone saying I took the low estimate and its been two week and no pickup. Now, they lost two weeks and paying the correct amount to have it moved.

Make the right choice and do your homework when shipping a vehicle. I do this everyday and know the market very well. If you need to ship a car, motorcycle, boat, or RV give me a call. I am here all day every day until 7.

To me if someone offers to ship at such a low rate compared to everyone else I would worry it would be ok when arrived. Shipping company's need to make money and not just put gas in their tank. With gas prices these days I am sure prices have gone up on shopping
