How much does it cost to repaint a car?

Just wondering, since my paint sucks, and im getting a lot of dings, im wondering what a ballpark range for a respray in the oem or similar color would cost. id assume id need the jams painted but the engine bay could stay. Im not lookin for a maaco job, so id need a finish that was comparable with the oem. any ideas of cost or where to go would help me out totally. thanks guys.

how much if i want to completely change the color? (engine out and such) ive always had the impression that "good" paint jobs start at around 2k, but dont know whats involved...

Look to spend around 3k for a total respray on the exterior. I wouldn't to anyone but Creative Kustoms over in SJ:

Creative Kustoms • 1794 Angela Street San Jose, Ca 95125 • [408] 279-4755

leave the door jambs original, i think that would be cool...stepping out of a blue subaru with yellow jambs lol

im assuming painting the jambs would be a 1/4 at least of the price, and taking out the engine to paint the bay would be another 5/8s the price, the exterior is nothing but tape over the windows

whats your oem color?

i have silver but id like to change to cgm or something else.

If you take some good time prepping it yourself and just have them spray it. It's not horrible, not great, but decent. If you have them do everything, you're screwed. Hello orange peel and paint on your tires and random parts that shouldn't be painted!
