How many of you BAIC MALES know how to cook?

Lets see, cooks VS non-cooks.

I was raised in a household of old school Croatian females which means that cooking is second nature to me. I've been cooking my whole life... I honestly remember making complex European dishes from the age of 8.

As age has gone by I've extended my palette, and know how to cook dishes that range from Dalmatian coastal delicacies, all the way to some tasty Vietnamese dishes... Some people think that cooking is a chore, but I think it's fun as hell!

Only thing I HATE is cleaning up... Washing dishes is the worst thing ever.

My famous dish is my fajitas... I'm seriously thinking about entering a fajita competition... Maybe I'll whip some up for "hammy"? Since there are so many of you, I'll only serve them to our beloved BAIC ladies. :D

kYLEMtnCRUZr 04-19-2009 09:02 PM

i love cooking. I dont think you cant know how to do it, those people are just too lazy to read recipes/attempt anything or lack common sense/judgement while cooking so they **** up everything? i dunno

ldivinag 04-19-2009 09:02 PM

step #1: open package
#2: press MINUTE button on microwave
#3: insert package in micro

VRT MBasile 04-19-2009 09:02 PM

Fried rice to Fillet Mignon with pasta inbetween, just no baking

jjtodd0612 04-19-2009 09:27 PM

I'm a freshman in college and I'm the only person I know out of all my friends that can cook a decent meal. Occasionally i'll take my friends to the store and tell them to buy certain items then I'll whip something up. The agreement is that they have to clean up.:biggrin1:

Subyusmcguy 04-19-2009 09:34 PM

All I can cook is breakfast and BBQ! Thats about it. My wife gets down though!

mcast 04-19-2009 09:55 PM

i'm like 80% grill and 20% stove expertise.

my famous dish is my fried rice, i grew up cooking for my family since there's 9 of us, and sometimes my parents werent home to cook so i manned up and cooked for family making my fried rice a meal in its own. :]

Arcenik 04-19-2009 09:57 PM

HAHAHAHA so the update on the oven is the glass is on back order until the 29th. I have been cooking since I can remember. I have a culinary degree and a online cooking show. I cook anything my friends would like to try. Other then that day to day stuff shrimp with fresh pasta in a basil sauce.

Hollandaze 04-20-2009 03:26 AM

2-3 hours of Food Network a day for the past several years, I should have learned something. My "go-to" dish is usually coconut milk curry chicken with some taters. I make a pretty decent honey baked ham with pineapple and a chorizo bread stuffing for holiday dinners. I picked up some basic home cooked Chinese dishes from my mom and revised them to uh...make more sense, flavor wise. Pasta's pretty basic, but I'm still learning to nail a good mac n' cheese.

You must have taken lessons from my wife - she's told me she doesn't trust me in the kitchen - and the only thing I'm allowed to operate is the microwave and the kitchen sink (for cleaning up). Absolutely no cooking for me - if it's my turn, we're eating out or I'm pulling out the BBQ. Not that I can't cook - I'd just have to spend a few days doing it to bring my skills back online. I'm spoiled that way, I guess.

 This is why i have a wife ! HELLO... what the hell do i need to cook for !

Overbear 04-20-2009 07:17 AM

I do mostly BBQ and Grilling, I have done a few semi-pro competitions, and have of course my own secret marinade that has taken me 5 years to perfect. I typically do the cooking at parties of 30-50, my standard is a bourbon herb Tri-tip(socal style)...but I am no slouch in the kitchen, I just feel more at home in front of a grill.

Pretty much you give me a cut of meat, and I will bring it to you exactly as you asked, and yes...that includes blue rare (took me many many years to perfect that one)

Nick Koan 04-20-2009 10:00 AM

I actually do most of the cooking in my house. I really enjoy working with my hands, whether it be in the kitchen, garage or back yard. In fact last week I was baking bread and building a fence at the same time.

That's the way to do it. :) I cook, he cleans. My bf is one of those guys that doesn't mind doing dishes...love that. He even washes the pot/pan or whatever was used to cook the food before we eat. He can work the BBQ though...I'll just marinade the meat.

VRT MBasile 04-20-2009 11:31 AM

I voted 2, but I'm more of a 1.5. I'm not a culinary master, but I do more than whats needed to get me by. However, living alone and being single "I cook when I have to" means breakfast, lunch, and most dinners

JelloChex 04-20-2009 11:35 AM

 Love the Simpsons.

I may not make super fancy stuff most of the time. I'll leave the fancier items to my roommate for now. I tend to keep to the basics. Not that I can't cook something nicer, just it takes more ingredients and I just don't dig through my cookbooks as often.

Packaged stuff is easy. I used to BBQ all the time, but I've been without a BBQ forever now as I haven't had one since I moved out of the house I used to live in and moved in to an apartment.

I can make stuff from scratch, like crepes & hash browns (not that hash browns are hard at all, but they are very tasty).

I love to bake though. I've honestly done that for years. I am still working on not screwing up Fudge though and need to learn some of the fancier items to baking but the basics like cookies, cakes, brownies are quite easy.

Oh and can't forget the crock-pot. That's one of the best things. Just toss in all the ingredients and let it cook for you. Meats come out so tender you can pull them apart with a fork.
