Hike up Mission Peak in Fremont from Ed Levin Park in Milpitas?

I went on this hike last year with my cousins. Took about 8 hrs to complete.

round trip distance was 23.8 km

Anyone here wanna go? Some friends and cousins are gonna go up the 1st
weekend of June most likely.

Time to start training...

how did you do that..... i had a hard time just hiking mission peak and i probably drank a gallon of water with lots of breaks in between:)

I biked it before... without stopping at all. Quite a trek.

i remember hiking that with my parents when i was about 10 or 11...tiring as hell. With atleast 50 more lbs on my frame, i'm not confident enough to say i can do it again. Though it does make for a great challenge, i'll have to sit this one out.

Good Luck!!!

Don't go on a hot day.

Shade is limited and it gets DAMN hot on that trail.

Anywhere around there really I'd say leave for fall/winter hiking.

Stick to parks like Redwood, Tilden, Big Basin, and Mt. Tam in the summer. Places with more cover.

yeah, i agree. it was pretty damn hot even when we went during spring break. if temps are too high in june, i'll delay this till fall/winter.

maybe i'll look at some trails @ the ones you mentioned.

Make sure you bring plenty of water. I went through like a gallon and a half while I was up there. !!!

Winter is definetely when to go... well, when it isn't soggy.

Redwood park is very nice and CLOSE (Oakland). There is also quite a variety of trails, just don't plan much of the route on the major N/S trail that allows bikes because:
1) it's exposed, not much shade
2) it's not in great condition
3) hot/dry + bikes = major dust.

But I was surprised at the quality of the trails there being so close to major metropolitan areas. Not the best trails I've been on, but good for the proximity.

Big Basin has better trails, but is more of a drive to get there.

Not sure where you live, but doing Morgan Territory to Mt. Diablo and then go to the top is a good one.

i did the hike to the top once. we encountered about 20 bulls. pretty crazy.
