Halllppp!

Hey everyone -

Here's the background - I'm running an STi springs on GF210's on a WRX Wagon on 17 in wheels...

I had some wheel rubbing prior to rolling the fenders. The sound would also be created while carrying cargo/people in the hatch..

Today, I'm merging onto an on-ramp at about 45mph and there's a slight dip in the road which makes the car drop a bit... Right after hitting the dip, a sound is produced which is reminiscent of the rear wheel rubbing.

So while driving straight, no sound is produced. While making a right handed turn, no sound. Making a left turn greater than 15mph, the wheel starts rubbing on the fender.

I haven't been able to jack up the car as I've relocated the school, but i'd like to take my hand at it before giving up and taking it to the dealer.

Any help diagnosing this problem AND... recommend any shops to do whatever work is necessary? I'm in the Oakland area...

I'd do the work myself, but I have no tools/garage in the area.

Thanks.

Imho Tanabe's aren't the best springs and depending on how old the STI struts you're running, it sounds like the corner that you're rubbing on has a blown strut..
I could be wrong.. But that's my guess..

sorry, sti struts on gf210s!

anywho, I got under the car and saw that something was close to rubbing near the wheel... I moved it back into place and problem solved!

Bollocks!
Why are they "not the best spring"?

I have several customers using GF210s without 1 complaint.
Including two wagons with STi spec springs.

did you take a look at the rubbing corner at all? the little rubber stripping that's there may have come loose from being nailed after hitting the bump. might be dipping enough to rub only under load.

Sorry, that's what I was told years ago.. But it was a different car, so I can be wrong here for Suby's..
