is GPS tracking legal?

if it is HOW? i mean what happen to privacy?

they recently installed gps tracking devices in our trucks at work and they told us NOT TO WORRY it just for keeping track of equipment! (we do loose a lot of equipment btw)

well just last week they fired 2 guys...

one for driving to his house on his lunch break and another for showing he was at a certain spot for over 15min. when he reported he was in route to a different location.

that gps tracking is soooo weak man. i cant believe employers are really going to pay to spy on their employees. my old employer did that same ****. its ridiculous.

zumnwrx 07-29-2009 02:00 PM

oh damn just got word that they had another guy in the office for being "off route"

dont know if hes fired yet... WTF!

better do your job lol

GPS tracking is legal.
We use to use @road to check to see where our drivers and sales people are and how fast they are driving.

It's totally legal, I'm soo lucky that my truck was one of like 3 in my whole company back in the day that didn't have a G-Force sensitive camera or a GPS. It wasn't that I was speed racer doing weird stuff but I was much more comfortable.

always do, and the job use to allow some kick back time if you WORKED your butt off and finished early... guess the best perk of this job is now GONE! time to learn to work REEEEEEEEEEEALY SLOW (which sucks)

w3rd thats what !!WAS!! nice about this job... you did you JOB with out being bothered

NOW its like the big BOSS man is standing over you shoulders questioning what your doing all day!
very un-nerving

flatline 07-29-2009 03:14 PM

yeah that is a horrible feeling. the whole point of not working in a warehousue or office is to be away from the boss man and just do YOUR job.

UPS has it on their trucks in South City as an experiment. They even have sensors that read if you clicked/unclicked your seatbelt.
You guys have it at Freight, good thing we don't have it yet at Express.

exactly...

unless the policy (and make sure it is written down somewhere) says the opposite, the job has gotten your locked down.

but then again, you can always quit...
