Good bye OEM Turbo Oil Drain, Hello -10AN

So I spent about 10+hrs over the weekend running several feet of stainless 1" bar in the cnc lathe. Im still waiting for brackets to get back from laser and forming to weld to the fitting so you can secure to the block like the oem unit. But here are some pics of OP2 machining sequence and mocked up on a block with a 90* fitting.
Sequence- Mocked up on the block w/out the bracket which I havent recieved yet. Just recieved my first test bracket pieces before i order a whole bunch, here are the 2 pieces melted together- |
Whoa, cool!

Interesting idea! Are you going to slip the -10 hose over the standard return line or weld up a fitting to the return pipe?
|
not sure what you mean by standard return line. On the block side you remove the tube piece thats bolted and pressed into the block and slip this fitting in which will eventually be bolted in securely. It isnt a press fit but seals with the oring.
On the turbo side pretty much all garrett/precision/borg are/can be fitted with a -10 fitting, which im sure your aware of. This piece is more so made for rotated type setups, to basically make for a nice clean seamless/worry free install that you dont have to worry whether or not the hose fits on that tube nicely, and you got the clamp all tight, etc.... I hate the oem setup, and knew there was room for improvement. did some brain storming, and solidworks stuff and came up with this. |

This is what the final fitting/bracket assembly will look like.

Sweet idea. Are you going to get someone to start producing those or is this just a custom idea? This seems like something the guys over at Turn in Concepts might like.

Do like :)

Already on it, thats why I was machining for 10 hrs...a long tedious 10 hrs at that...lol |
You know I like it :)

Damn dude... another killer idea. I still love those braces of yours.
Just found out my buddy has a cnc lathe so I'm gonna make my own shift knob and I'm thinking about trying another part but we'll see... top secret. LOL! |

Now i just need to talk you into loosing 30lbs+ or so of exhaust tubing in front of the car for something that weighs prob less than 10lbs...lol oh....and I finished the endtanks in solidworks yesterday so I sent the files off, should have them next week and welded on the radiator core. |
I want one of whatever he is getting LOL. I already to ditch this Perrin intercooler for something cleaner, lighter, and more efficient.
Good stuff as always |
You should see what he's making for the both of us :)

Giggity :giggity: :giggity: :giggity:
|
And I'm out the door to pick up some uber expensive aerospace material, one of which costs $175 A FOOT :faint2:
