Has someone had an engine failure where they can definitively prove the Blue OEM filter was the cause?

Probably will never happen if you routinely change your oil filters around 3-4k intervals. I hope.......

Don't think it's an engine failure thing, rather an engine longevity thing. Dirty oil means more engine wear.

Unless you happened to know they were discontinuing the Tokyo Roku filters, in which case you bought half a case (25) for future use.

Wix Filters - Product Catalog search results

Only off shelf filter I can buy comfortably other than the napa gold comparison filter easily available since. And I get discounts at my work and can buy in bulk.

The only minor thing I don't like about WIX was mentioned by Pho: flat gasket instead of the "P" profile. I used WIX for years without issue until I had a gasket separate from the filter and stick to the engine block even though I lubed it at installation. Wasn't actually a failure, but I didn't like that. I went back to OEM after that and and still haven't had an issue with them either. The fact is, pretty much any filter can fail, even a good one, so it doesn't really matter who makes it, some bad ones can get out on the shelves as this thread shows.

I have an oil sandwich plate on mine so anything taller than the OE will hit my undertray.

Pretty much all oil filters are made by just a few companies.
