Fabbed up the Vacuum Canister today...

A few weeks ago I posted about having some issues with running out of brake booster while left foot braking at Autocrosses.
Surprisingly this is a fairly common problem and no one has come up with a good solution. So today I fabbed up one using a $30 generic vacuum can from [ame="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002ZMBSM0/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1"]Amazon[/ame] Had to relocate the horn/buzzer thing, but it fit nicely next to the air box Think I'm gonna get out of this for ~$45 after hoses and fittings :) |

Hey! That's pretty cool. I've run into the booster issue lfb'ing as well. Nice work. And that microscope pic hahaha!

Looks great.

Have you driven the car yet? How do the brakes feel now?
How are the lines routed now from the booster to the manifold? |
I just got around to buying line today. I plan to disconnect the original line, and hook my "send" to the intake manifold fitting. Run it under the intercooler, to the can, than back and use a straight or 90deg barb fitting to reattach to the end of the original booster line

Sound good, kind of interested in this... post up some pics / review once you got it all squared away :)

You should make a ton of them and sell them for like $100.
I am sure others out there have similar problems w. no solution. |
The can is in and working fine. There shouldn't be (and isn't) any change in standard brake feel. The canister is only going to make a difference under extreme left foot braking situations.
As for selling the thing... Nah. I'd rather give away the plans and contribute to the community. |
Either inspired by this thread or some mention of it elsewhere, I was researching it a bit and happened upon this on the nasty socks. A more extreme upgrade, but an intriguing one nonetheless.
Upping performance is cool and all, but I like mods that lower the floor in addition to raising the ceiling. Aside pump noise (assuming I can hear it over my exhaust lolz), seems a good move. I'm looking into cheaper, piecemeal options than the kit the guy uses. Will post as I find more... |
