Engine problem (non subaru) and shop recommendation.
I just have a quick general engine related question, not for a Subaru but since you guys are very knowledgeable about cars in general, someone might be able to help.
The car is a 2000 Toyota Camry. The problem is when the car starts in cold weather, it will turn over, the revs will go up, then right away it will drop from like 1k down to 0 and the car shuts off. The car will start to shake and stutter then die. To remedy this, if I rev the car for a little while at like 2-3k and keep revving, once the engine warms the RPM will stay at idle and the car runs fine. This usually only happens in the morning when the car and weather is cold. Any ideas what the problem could be? Thanks! |
im sure paul can do it
it sounds like an idle valve they go out qutie a bit on those or a cold start valve but i have no clue |
Probably a bad IAC, but that isn't a definitive answer. Just a quick gut feeling.

+1 to that |
You can take it off and clean it. See if that helps the problem. Would also confirm the issue.
