Does E85 fluxuate in price or does it stay the same price? I have been debating on going E85 for some time now and have a cons & pros list that im trying to see if it would be worth it.

So for
Pros:
better than 91

Cons:
Stations that have E85? limited locations? Also from reading its seems that even though the cost is less you get less MPG thus filling up more?Or does it come out to be about the same? Also can i pass smog?I will post up on any stations i find with E85 aswell

Redwood City
Propel Station
503 Whipple Avenue,
Redwood City, CA

$3.09 E85 12/2/12

Might i add from testing the E85 at this station it always seems to be E88

Right E85 is the equivalent of about 105 octane gas. Much better for making power and very knock resistant.

Stations are limited, yes it's cheaper but it goes much faster. I get about 200 miles per tank. What you pay will depend on how much you drive. You will pass smog on E85 even if you are catless.

Have a look here so we don't clutter this thread up with other stuffs.

The price of E85 does fluctuate based on the cost of gas and corn. The reason why you'd use more E85 is because you have to inject ~%30 more fuel than normal gas. Yes, you can pass smog with E85; you're burning mostly alcohol.

You also get less mileage with E85 FYI.

Hmm interesting. Once I get my Zeitronix's kit, I will follow up on this.

I also have the same kit coming. It's been a while since I tested that station but I've had little to no noticeable change in the 2+ years I've been filling up there.

That's a GREAT thing. Consistency is what we're all after! Especially year round!

Let me know who does the install for you guys because I want that unit on my car too. I usually fill up the car and fill up a 5 gallon jug for extra. Ill drive home easy and test from the 5 gallon jug to see if I got good e85 in the car or not. I've only tested a handful of times because it is a bit of a hassle to test everytime I fill up, I generally drive easy till I know what % it is. So far hasn't been an issue hitting E88 99% of the time I've tested. My problem is now that it's getting chilly my car hates starting in the morning in 58 degrees or lower weather lol. Waiting for Ed to get back to me to see if we can adjust the tune for colder weather or find another solution. Cranking and cranking the car at 5am is pain on my neighborhoods ears lol.

You ain't alone! I got work at 4am, got cams and everything. It wakes up the whole neighborhood. This one lady got mad at me and threw a slipper at me, luckily I dodge that s**t. I almost want to say it's an alarm clock, get your ass up woowoo like Bob Rob! J/K

apetron 12-02-2012 09:11 PM

Hahahha. On my most recent tune I have very little trouble starting the car on cold days so I am sure Ed can do something for you.

It wasnt terrible before with the catted dp and greddy evo 2 but now that I am running EL headers, catless dp, and the tomei TI exhaust its crazy ass loud. I couldnt imagine having to keep cranking it over with how loud it is.

PROcede - I think I'll be installing the Zetronix stuff myself. Its really straight forward. Sensor goes into the fuel return line, hook up the electronics, connect the display, and you should be good to go.

There is another step which involves running the sensor into your ecu which allows for on the spot correction for ethanol % variations. However I have no idea if this would work with the accessport.
