Digital Camera Info
Hey guys,
I am in the market for a digital camera and really am a total n00b. I am not into the photoshop hype and have never used the program. I am looking for a camera that will take great quality pictures, and is an all around good buy. I am looking to spend no more than $1000 as I am tight on funds because I'm moving. So I was just wondering what digicams you guys use and your opinions of them. Any info would be great!
Thanks,
Chris

$1000 can get you pretty much anything except for the higher end dSLRs. I don't know what features you are lookin for but I always refer to these sites when I look for cameras.

for 1g get a digital slr, like trey's digital rebel, its the ****ing ****.
the higher end cameras arent too user friendly, so you may want to stick with something basic.
dont forget to buy a tripod and a huge memory card

CF memory is pretty cheap compared to the rest. Especially compared to sony memory sticks.

i realize that he said he is a total n00b when it comes to digital cameras
definatly stay away from a dSLR then. get a nice olympus point and shoot. takes great quality shots has a decent amount of features to play with and is very simple to work.

What do you do if you dont have a mobile charger? spend $30+ on a new lithium pack if for some reason the gas station happens to carry your proprietary battery?
getting a camera like a sony DSC or a Canon you cant go wrong, sony even provides a wall battery charger for Nicad batteries.
From my experience, Sony is the most consistant, canon has great quality with the high end cameras, and fuji is good as well ( thats what I have right now).
These were things I looked at when I purchased my camera:
* what you will use it for.
* Size.
* Exposure time settings for fast motion objects. - see http://www.slakin.net/imgs/11-12-200...s/DSCF0026.JPG
* Megapixals.
* optical zoom ( cause digital zoom sucks anus ).
* memory format and how much it will cost.
* type of battery and how much it will cost.
Good luck!
If you don't leave your camera on all the time, a fully charged battery will last you a while.
Cameras that use standard batteries suck. I didn't say to buy an extra battery. All I'm saying is to buy a camera that doesn't use standard because if you used them, you'll know what I'm talking about.
Sony, Canon, Nikon have good cameras.
Also, I'd recommend buying a camera that uses CF memory so you can save a little money.
